December 30, 2021Trust, Belief, and Faithfulness | A Response to Grace Evangelical SocietyDrew has special guest Tim Nichols back on to respond to a broadcast from Bob Wilkins and Shawn Lazar of the Grace Evangelical Society's questions "What is a Provisionist? What does it mean to believe? How is believing different from working?". Tim and Drew contrast their view of the word "faith"/"belief" with Shawn and Bob's regarding what it means to believe true propositions vs "trust" true propositions from Jesus who IS the Truth. They respond to the GES brothers on their concerns about "doing" things to be saved and the conversations that need to follow claims like that. They also discuss whether faith is "passive" or "active" and how the Bible is not meant to be read as a Systematic Theology text book. Drew and Tim discuss the issue of "doing" something to be saved, what Jesus had to say about it in John 6 and where there can be some evangelistic concerns. They also talk briefly about the crux of the Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS)/Eternal Security debate which is whether God will choose to leave us or not while highlighting some differences between the Free Grace view and the "Traditional" OSAS view. Shawn and Bob seem to think that many Christians might not be saved and Drew and Tim talk about some unhelpful claims they make while also sympathizing with evangelistic concerns that they also have over misunderstandings of "having faith" etc.Premiered December 30, 2021Support the show...more1h 30minPlay

December 09, 2021Corporate Election in Ephesians 1 | Responding to A Calvinist CritiqueTag-teaming in and out as the proverbial "good cop" and "bad cop", Drew and Eric tackle a critique of their Corporate Election view from Ephesians 1 by Tyler Vela, an online Calvinist apologist. Vela strawmans and misrepresents throughout and Drew and Eric highlight these tactics in their own unique ways. Drew & Eric highlight that examining and paying attention to pronouns is more important than Vela seems to think and Drew properly represents the Provisionist view of predestination in Ephesians 1 since Vela doesn't get it quite right. Eric shows some of Vela's dismissive tactics that Online Calvinism (like James White's Alpha and Omega Ministries) is often characterized by. Drew closes by revealing the double standard that many like Vela seem to have when engaging in these controversial theological/soteriological discussions.Premiered December 9, 2021Support the show...more1h 6minPlay
