Today on Perry and Shawna Mornings, we kick off with some fun: Shawna has a confession—she has trust issues and it has to do with Google Maps. Then Shawna has a theory: That God’s love language is obedience. We explore her theory with Psalm 40:6-8 shaping our thoughts. Next, as we’ve been in the Psalms this week we’ve been getting the 35,000 foot view of the ocean that is the Psalms. From time to time we’ve been flying low to get a closer view. From 35,000 feet the Psalms invite us into God’s secret space giving us permission to bring our real self to him. Giving us hope when the dark days are long and reminding us that God’s still in control and one day all the sad things will come untrue.
As we fly low and take a closer look we see something so obvious: God comforts us in all our troubles! There is comfort in the Psalms for every trouble known to humanity: Perry shares how Psalm 139:12-13 comforted him in his pitch black dark night of the soul when he felt cut off from God and we share a listener email from this week from a pastor who is finding God’s strength and love to be enough in his lifelong struggle with depression. Then Shawna shares some of her deepest fears and how God is teaching her what a life lived without fear looks like. And finally we bring in the superhero Thor for some fun encouragement. : )
