Saint Benedict tells us to do now the things that will profit forever.

Listening to the Holy Spirit, and being open to what He is leading us to do, is integral in living as lights representing the Light of the world.

The end in mind is that we are to be living joyful portents [signs] of his indwelling presence within us ... signs for others to see.

In this episode of Psalty Catholic we look at the 5th Joyful Mystery and the fruit it cultivates in our lives, a reading from the The Rule of Saint Benedict [Prologue 33-38] that points to our need for continual repentance and conversion, and todays Gospel [Matthew 23:27-32] and how Christ's words confront the hypocrisies in our lives.

In this video we consider the 4th Joyful Mystery, a reading from the Prologue of The Rule of Saint Benedict, and today's Gospel reading and how they point us toward living lives of humble childlike obedience.

Many are the voices today calling to us saying "this is the way". It is imperative that we follow safe God-given spiritual guides lest the Enemy deceive us and lead us into deception.   In this video we reflect on the Mystery of the Nativity, listen to Saint Benedict's wise counsel, and consider the hierarchical leadership appointed by Christ in his Church.  The words that floated out of my mind at 14:00 were "There is no such thing as legitimate spiritual anarchy."  I apologize for the wind noise in the one segment.

Christian service, obedience, and proclaiming the Kingdom are essential elements of the Catholic faith. They are essential in the process of our conversion to Christ-likeness. Praying for the Holy Souls is an important part of our Catholic prayer life. The lack of pastoral emphasis on this necessity does not do away with this realm where the Suffering Church is being made perfect in love. Nor does it cancel the necessity and importance of our prayers for our dearly departed once their physical life on earth has ended.

The Apostle Paul said to pray constantly ... to pray without ceasing. How well answer this universal call to prayer in our lives as Christians?
