This week's final podcast in the series will feature a guest play entitled 'The Squatter' by award-winning  Jamaican writer and playwright Michael Reckord. 

In this full-length one-act play,  the writer explores a range of social psychological issues relating to social interactions, social perception and social influence. The play examines how these issues impact and are impacted by some of the main agents of socialization including family, school, peer groups, religion, economic and legal systems and the media. The result is a play exploring:  Attitudes, 
Violence & Aggression, Discrimination,  Prejudice & Stereotypes,  Group behaviour, Prosocial Behaviour,  Self & Social Identity, Interpersonal Relationships and Social Influence.

Mr Reckord is a previous winner of both the Regional and Overall Commonwealth Short Story Competition.

This week's  penultimate  podcast in the series will feature the third place short play from the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts - Creative Writing Competition. The play entitled 'Up or Down' is written by Brian Johnson. 

In this very entertaining short play, Brian takes a very playful approach to language in Jamaica and explores many of its implications with respect to race, class and gender. 
He wittingly explores an age-old conundrum within households. 

Brian is a post-graduate student at the UWI Mona in the Faculty of Humanities and Education and his major is Cultural Studies.

In this short play, Brittany presents us with a 'no holds barred' look at what can happen when parents, even with the best intentions, seek employment abroad. In so doing, they often expose the children they leave behind to dangers from unscrupulous people, as well as other anti-social influences.
 
Brittany is a second year student majoring in Film Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, Mona.

This week's podcast will feature the 2nd place short play in the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Cteative Arts - Creative Writing Competition.  The play entitled 'WITCHCRAFT: The Story of the River Child' is written by Jaquon Alexander. 

Set during the eighteenth century, it tells a tragic tale of love, miscegenation, separation and loss. 

Jaquon, who hails from Antigua & Barbuda, is a second year student in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at the UWI, Mona campus, majoring in Cultural and Creative Industries.

This week's podcast will feature the winning short play in the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts - Creative Writing Competition.  The play is entitled 'Taxi Driver and Big Money' and is written by Tashanique Wilson.

Tashanique Wilson is a postgraduate student in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UWI, Mona  who is pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry.

'Taxi Driver and Big Money' gives listeners the opportunity to experience, vicariously, an exhilarating ride in a Jamaican route taxi from downtown Kingston to the UWI, Mona and everything that goes with it!
