CW: discussions of disordered eating
It's time we talked about Dr. Phil. The controversial talk show host will be ending his daytime show this year, so I thought it would be fitting to touch on some of the more egregious bumbles he's made. I also review different types of mental health licenses and how to check if your provider is licensed, so listen for some practical advice!

Disclaimer: I'm a Swiftie, so nothing but love for my girl Taylor. I use this episode to talk about how the label "white feminist" gets applied to Taylor, when it might be justified, and why celebrities can't be the irreproachable role models we want them to be.

Content Warning: substance use
It's no secret that addiction is a BIG topic in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I don't think the ladies do a particularly good job of addressing it, at least not in the first 7 seasons. In this episode, I break down a few specific examples and provide my opinion on how you could handle the situation differently.

This week's minisode is about the Gambler's Fallacy, a cognitive bias that makes us really bad at predicting things. I review the origin of the phrase, some original research, and what we can do to avoid the fallacy.

I had to talk about the Barbie movie! It was a phenomenal film and has some interesting psychological points to take away from it. I do spoil the end of the movie, so make sure to watch the movie before taking a listen.

In honor of Oppenheimer coming out this weekend, I figured I'd cover another nerd who used science to help the war effort during WWII. The survivorship bias is based on work done by Abraham Wald, a mathemetician who consulted with the US military on how to effectively protect planes from being shot down. The bias still impacts us to this day, and contributes to why we believe in things like the "American dream."

CW: mentions of suicidality
I finally finished Succession! Boy is it a doozy of a show. You know I just had to talk about the family dynamics among the characters, as well as the way that wealth impacts the storyline overall.

In this episode, I talk about the media phenomenon of queerbaiting. This occurs when studios or creators sprinkle vague hints at a character's sexuality to keep queer audiences coming back for shreds of representation. I also talk about the application of the term to celebrities' personal lives and the importance of real, substantial representation.

CW: brief mentions of suicidality and self-harm, transphobia
Happy Pride Month y'all! I figured this was the perfect time to talk about the "trans panic" and how transphobes use really bad excuses to justify their bigotry. I break down the arguments behind trans people in women's sports, bathroom bills, and gender-affirming care, as well as talk about the psychological consequences of transphobia.

What makes a good apology? Pretty much the exact opposite of how Tom Sandoval addressed the fallout of his affair with Raquel Leviss. I break down the "apology" tour that Sandoval went on in the finale. Spoiler alert: Tom's apologys are not what I would call "good"
