Tune in for this week's episode where we are joined by the incredible Dawnette, current third year SPT, mother of one, and creator of Moms in PT School Podcast! She walks us through her non-traditional pathway to PT, starting off her certification and licensed work in massage therapy. Dawnette shares about her endurance through her pre-PT grind after being out of school for almost 10 years. From re-taking pre-requisites, recovering from a car accident, and giving birth to her daughter Alanis, Dawnette enrolled in a hybrid program that helped fit her lifestyle and journey to becoming a PT. She shares the vital role that her support system of family, friends, and husband played to not only help her put in the time for her accelerated program, but also prioritize time with her loved ones. She also created her podcast during school to help initiate the conversation for other mom's that are pre-PT, SPT, and even practicing clinicians. While finding time and balance is not always easy, Dawnette shares the importance of how communicating not only with her spouses, but her daughter as well, helped her realize the importance of prioritizing quality time.
