At its best, music offers us a chance at time travel, transporting us back to moments in our past. That happens over and over again on With People, the latest album from Shaun Fleming’s Diane Coffee project. Produced by Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, it blends '70s style folk-rock with orchestral pop flourishes and focuses in on their youth in Agoura Hills, California. Fleming joins Clairaudience host Ersa Lowly tonight to discuss the album, the nostalgic power of Pink Floyd, and of course, discuss a visit with Harry Nilsson. With People is released April 29 and is available now for preorder from Polyvinyl Records.
It's time for a biweekly online rabbit hole journey with Sam Means and Jason P. Woodbury. On today’s show, our click trails take us from Billy Joel to Television to the Johns (Glynn, Ethan, and Andy)—who've helped to make some of the best sounding records ever—and from Todd Rundgren to Ric Ocasek and then Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. And of course, the boys are digress and discurse all along the way.

Ersa Lowly's topics here on Clairaudience tend toward the lofty, the paranormal, and the mystical, as above, so below. We often imagine there's a dividing line between high and low experiences, but it’s all, pardon our French, composed of the same shit. Our lowest moment is connected to our highest; our most embarrassing story says as much about us as our most laudable. So we're engaging in a bathroom story tonight from the 1-877-WASTOIDS hotline. Plus, far out tunes from the Science Fiction Corporation, Scott Blair from Eugene's Electronic Music Collective, and Raymond Scott.
You have tuned your mental radio to a very particular frequency and entered a phantasmagorical zone, one in which you mustn’t take things too literally, but you must also be sure to take them seriously. It's time for Clairaudience, with Ersa Lowly. Tonight, we hear from a 1-877-WASTOIDS caller who shares a story about their imaginary friend, and then turn to the work of esotericist Alexandra David-Neel on the topic of "tulpas"—imaginary beings come to life—for some answers.

The hands on the clock are spinning, moving both backward and forward. What time does this frenzied motion denote? Why, it means the hour is at hand: It’s time for…Clairaudience on WASTOIDS. Next time you listen to theoretical scientists describing the world of quantum physics, listen to the terminology they use. You’ll find it sounds a bit…far out. “Teleportation” is one such term. It’s possible, in the realm of quantum mechanics, to transport information through the waves, though they haven’t cracked the matter of, well, teleporting matter just yet. But if you wander into the world of myth, religion, art, and music, you'll find stories of teleportation everywhere. And tonight, we have word from a 1-877-WASTOIDS caller about strange orbs in the sky that can do just that...teleporting across the sky. Plus, strange instrumental tunes from Combustible Edison, James Ferraro, Pneumatic Tubes, and Sam Means.
Welcome to Click Vortex from WASTOIDS. Each episode, Sam Means (Hello Merch/The Format) and Jason Woodbury (Aquarium Drunkard) stumble down a rabbit hole of hyperlinks, following trails of interconnection between wildly varied topics. In episode one, Sam takes us on a music video journey—touching on Blur, Weezer, Sparks, Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson, Robbie Robertson of The Band, and Alice Cooper. Then, Jason takes us from underground cartoonist Gary Panter to Pee Wee's Playhouse, from Rob Zombie to the punk band Vatican Commandos and ultimately landing on techno star Moby. Has the spirit of Harry Nilsson ever visited you in a dream? This week on Clairaudience, your host Ersa Lowly examines a few Nilsson in the night encounters from Ruben Zarate of Dante Elephante and Sam Means of The Format. Plus, tunes from Mellotron Variations (members of Wilco/Medeski Martin & Wood), ambient country band SUSS, George Tipton, Dick Shory’s New Percussion Ensemble, and more. Do you have a message for us?
