  • Clairaudience: Mere Coincidence

    CALL US: 1-877-WASTOIDS

Do you see repeating numbers? Tend to notice the same color everywhere you go? Ever received a phone call from a friend just as you were thinking about them?

The ultra-rational among us might call these occurrences “mere coincidence.” Those a little farther out might label them “serendipity.” And then there are those who go even deeper with possibility and note these moments as signs from the universe itself, symbols aligning to communicate cosmic truths.

However you classify, there’s no getting around the uncanny sensation that accompanies a moment that feels scripted by some unseen hand. Forces are at work around us, they impose upon us and we, perhaps, may impose upon them as well. The keen wanderer learns how to spot markers on the path, even if they’re wandering without a map. Please make note of the time, listener. What time is it right now? Well, it’s time for Clairaudience, on WASTOIDS.

  • Clairaudience: Imagine That

How is your imagination doing tonight listener? Have you indulged it lately? We get so caught up in our day to day existence, in the errands we need to run, the appointments we must keep, and the notifications our phones feed us, that we forget the endless depths of our own minds. It can easily start to feel like there’s simply no time for the infinite. We forget so easily that, at any moment, we can go inside that space and be treated to visions of…anything.

Tonight, Ersa Lowly brings you sounds and ideas to spark your imagination, plus producer Jason and music director Sam join the show to discuss one of the coolest and most imaginative places on the internet: Night Flight Plus, home to the original ’80s sensation Night Flight, plus an immersive library of music documentaries, horror, sci-fi, and cult fare. And now, WASTOIDS listeners can get $10 off their annual membership.

  • Clairaudience: Into the Multiverse With Reptaliens

“If you think this universe is bad, you should see some of the others.” It was the late author and science fiction prophet Philip K Dick who said that, and tonight on Clairaudience we're choosing to read it as an optimistic statement. Tonight on the show, Ersa Lowly takes a call from Portland, Oregon’s own Reptaliens who ring up to share tales from the road, discuss science fiction, and the influence of ‘90s rock on their new album, Multiverse (Captured Tracks).

  • Clairaudience: What's That Sound?

It’s late at night. You’re on the way home from a punk rock show. Your ears are still ringing. There’s little illumination beyond the headlights and the moon overhead, but the display of the radio glows too, frequency numbers backlit softly by the dashboard’s neon green glow. You scan the dial, through the static, Top 40, and commercial jingles. Then, you stumble upon them, the spiraling sounds of…Clairaudience on WASTOIDS.

Do you enjoy the woozy wonders of our program? If so, you can help us out with it by leaving a rating, reviewing the show, and of course, subscribing so you never miss our weekly explorations of the weird, our travels to far-off locales real—but more often—totally imagined.

We’d love to hear about the songs that changed your mind, that altered you forever. Give us a call with your light bulb song, listener: 1-877-WASTOIDS. Ring us up and leave a message, and listen for your call here on Clairaudience. Call with your song of revelation today.

  • Clairaudience: Nightmares Are Still Dreams

It’s Tuesday night and Ersa Lowly is thinking about dreaming. At the start of the pandemic, there were widespread reports of a surge in stress dreams. Did you suffer through that wave? Are you still going through it? Sleep journeys can be mundane. What’s worse than a dream where you dream about going to work or a routine appointment? Or they can be exhilarating, like when you’re soaring high in the air. Or terrifying, like when you have one of those awful falling dreams. Dreams, like life itself, are a mixed bag. But if you’re lucky, if you practice even, they can be magical. Perhaps this evening's episode of Clairaudience will be of use as you're carried away into dreamland.

  • Clairaudience: Hex Education

What’s that ringing on the wind? The chimes of a new year are ringing, echoing with possibility. Have you got your resolutions handy? Are you prepared to discuss adjusting your habits and renouncing your vices?

    No?

Well don’t worry, you don’t need to worry about any of that for the next quarter hour. No pressures, self-imposed or otherwise, no commands, just…Ersa Lowly with a quarter-hour of mellow music and strange calls: Clairaudience on WASTOIDS.
