Today on Pucking Funny we welcome one of the biggest names in hockey; Austin Matthews. Austin grew up in rural Newfoundland, Canada, moved to the Sydney area at age 12, and took up hockey seriously once in Australia. 

Austin now plays, coaches, and is a true rink rat, regularly spending 8-12 hours a day at the rink.

Eric Brook took to hockey less than 10 years ago. While on a trip to the USA he attended a Portland Winterhawks game, and got instantly hooked to the game. Since then he has made his way up to play-by-play announcer of the AWIHL's YouTube streaming broadcasts.

In this interview, we go to beautiful Western Australia and chat with Perth Inferno goalie Sasha King. At only 16, Sashsa is already a regular in the AWIHL and started the bronze medal game for the Inferno in this season's Bronze medal game against defending champs Melbourne.

Todd St.Louis played in the OHL with players like Richard Park and Matt Cooke. Todd was the enforcer who made sure the skill guys had room to do their thing.

After a lengthy career in the minors, Todd now lives in Texas, raising 4 kids by himself(!!), and has made a pro hockey comeback in his 40's.

Liam Maguire is a hockey historian and expert. He knows every minute detail of the NHL from it's beginnings until now. Liam is also a published author with his most recent work "The Real Ogie: The Life and legend of Goldie Goldthorpe" available online.

Today we talk drafting and prospects. Ash first got into hockey in the mid 90's as an Avs fan. Since then he's continued cheering them on, but more interestingly he's got into following the NHL draft, prospects and player development. Without being an insider, I'd suggest Ash is the Australian Bob Mackenzie.

Today we chat with Melbourne Ice forward Ashlie Aparicio. Ashlie began by playing inline hockey, saw the game on ice and decided to give it a shot, and what a shot indeed, she's won a WAIHL championship with the ICE, and February 23 - 29 (2020), she will be representing Australia at the IIHF Womens Division 2B World championships in Iceland.

Today we chat with Kyle Binstead. Kyle first got into hockey in the late 1990's as a Red Wings fan, he quickly got the hockey bug, started skating, then playing, and now he officiates games in the Sydney area. That's right, a referee on Pucking Funny.

Mark Deazeley played 3 seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL winning the Memorial Cup in 1990, and being teammates with non other than Eric Lindros. 

Mark has great stories of junior hockey, being roommates with Lindros, and later on having a fruitful career in the ECHL.

More importantly, Mark opens up about childhood trauma he went through, how it affected him as an adult, and how now at 48 he has overcome it, and is playing pro hockey again!!!

In this interview, we speak with Craig Tonks who has been involved in Australian ice hockey for several years in different roles. He is still affiliated with the Newcastle North Stars, his son is currently playing in Sweden, and in the last 10-20 minutes we discuss Craig's other sporting passion, surfing.
