  • 213 - "Best" In The West

Randy Carlyle finally gets shown the door in Anaheim and is replaced by his boss who has zero NHL coaching experience. Let's see how this pans out...

Ryan, Geeta, P Mac and a Skyped in Dave gather this week to discuss the exceptionally week western conference. With only eight points separating last place teams from the wild card, it will be an incredible log jam of mediocrity entering the playoffs.

They discuss the Vancouver Canucks' impressive win on Saturday night vs the Calgary Flames. From Elias Pettersson's incredible performance to a dominant effort from a very confident, Jacob Markstrom, it was the exact type of win the team needed. They also talk about the unfortunate post concussion syndrome that Sven Baertschi is dealing with and if he can return to the game.

They also talk about the St. Louis Blues' hot streak, the Chicago Blackhawks finding their game again and Auston Matthews getting his five year deal done with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  • 212 - Inadvertent Innuendo

The unofficial second half of the NHL season is here. The trade deadline slowly approaches and the arms race between the big four teams begins!

Ryan, Geeta, a Skyped-in Dave and P Mac get together to discuss the Winnipeg Jets. Arguably one of the funnest teams in the league to watch right now, the Jets are keeping pace in the Central Division and winning a lot of games despite pending RFA Patrik Laine scoring just four goals since early December. There are talks of the Jets shopping their first round pick, ready to compete with Nashville, San Jose and the powerhouses in the east.

They also discuss the Tom Wilson fixation facing contending teams in the NHL right now. With so many teams wanting to compete with the Capitals and bring the toughness and intimidation element to their playoff run, can we see teams overpaying for players the likes of Micheal Ferland or Wayne Simmonds at the deadline?

They touch on the increasingly elaborate win celebrations in Carolina as the Hurricanes have now begun playing duck duck goose to celebrate home wins. Are these celebrations going too far? Also, do these players actually know the proper rules of Duck Duck Goose? P Mac investigates.

Finally, the gang answers some great Canucks and Superbowl related questions and they discuss the "Prickly" comments about Elias Pettersson around Vancouver during the All-Star Break

  • 211 - Three Offer Sheets To The Wind

The 2019 NHL All-Star Game has come and gone, Sidney Crosby won the MVP and a couple of women's olympic hockey players turned a lot of heads.

Ryan and P Mac get together to discuss the fallout from the All-Star Game. Their thoughts on the event itself, the skills competition and the new tracking technology unveiled by the NHL. Dave Skypes in from Ottawa to give his thoughts on All-Star weekend as well.

They also discuss the idea of teams giving offer sheets to Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews this summer. Could the Arizona Coyotes make a play to bring Auston Matthews, the hometown boy back to Arizona? P Mac also looks back to one of the most famous offer sheets in NHL history, the debacle involving Scott Stevens and the St. Louis Blues.

Finally, they answer some Twitter questions and look at how the Vancouver Canucks are spending their All-Star break.

  • 210 - The Notorious P.E.T.E.Y.

Elias Pettersson returned to the Vancouver Canucks lineup, the skies parted, the sun shined over the city and all was right again in the world.

Ryan, Geeta and P Mac gather this week at the palatial estate to discuss an eventful week in sports. Dave skypes in from the nation's capital to discuss a third straight week of chaos from Edmonton surrounding the Oilers. From players being put on waivers to some embarrassing losses, its another week of nonsense in the Alberta capital with a team who will do everything it can to make the playoffs in the spring.

They also discuss the Vancouver Canucks' extended home stand including Thatcher Demko's first win of the season over the Buffalo Sabres and Elias Pettersson's return to the lineup in a 3-2 matinee win against the Detroit Red Wings. Petey wasted little time before scoring his 23rd goal of the season, he also netted an assist and made the Canucks once again look like an offensive threat.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking human these days. Their midseason slump continues and so does William Nylander's scoring woes. After getting just his fourth point of the season in a 4-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes, it might be time to revaluate that signing before it's too late for Kyle Dubas and the Leafs.

Finally, the gang answer some great Twitter questions, look up Mike Fisher's alleged country music career, and the return of Dump 'N Chase!

This week Ryan and Geeta share an interesting encounter outside the art gallery and Ryan tells a tale of a cheapskate patron at the table next to him who refused to tip for the most pointless of reasons.

  • 209 - Good Night Dave, Good Luck Rick Nash

The Vancouver Canucks avenge Petey, the Edmonton Oilers will do anything to score goals in a last ditch effort to make the playoffs and Rick Nash calls it a career.

Ryan, Geeta, P Mac and a Skyped in Dave join you this week to discuss another week of chaos in Edmonton. The Oilers are willing to trade almost anything to get some offensive threats. Is this Peter Chiarelli's last chance?

They also discuss Roberto Luongo's return to Vancouver. And Mike Matheson's for that matter. Multiple Canucks took their turn trying to stick up for Elias Pettersson, but Matheson wasn't biting.

Rick Nash's career comes to an end and they discuss his contribution to the game, whether it's a Hall of Fame calibre career and players with similar numbers who aren't in the hall of fame.

They also look at the Bobrovsky controversy in Columbus. Goalie Bob was suspended by the team leadership group after a blowup with Torts. Is the animated and angry John Tortorella slowly pushing Bobrovsky (...and Panarin) out of town?

Finally, the gang answers some Twitter questions and talks those high scoring Calgary Flames and the incredible lack of production from James Neal.

    Enjoy!

  • 208 - On The Rig

It's the first podcast of 2019!

Ryan, Geeta and P Mac gather at the palatial estate for a very fun and lively start of the new year. Dave skypes in from our nation's capital to discuss attending the Elias Pettersson Show against the Ottawa Senators, his incredible hat trick and unfortunate luck and injury against the Montreal Canadiens' Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

They also discuss the ongoing problems in Edmonton. Trading depth defensemen at a loss and still not providing Connor McDavid with secondary scoring, the gang wonders if a Wayne Gretzky-like monster trade will happen a few years down the road, sending Connor McDavid to greener pastures and warmer climates.

They talk about the diminishing production of Ryan Kesler, now 34 years old and plagued with injuries and surgeries. Does RK17 have what it takes to play at an elite level anymore? With the Ducks losing eight in a row, it's hard to imagine hockey is very fun in Orange Country right now.

Finally, the gang answer some great Twitter questions, their opinions on more officials in an NHL game, Vancouver's playoff chances and fallout from the 2019 World Junior Championship in Vancouver BC, which saw Canada unable to qualify for a medal.
