 to tease or joke with someone by telling them something that isn’t true. 

Examples:

1- A famous comedian once pulled the leg of his fans by pretending he had retired, only to announce a surprise comedy tour the next day!

2- At the office, my coworker told me the boss wanted to see me urgently. I panicked until he laughed and said, 'Just pulling your leg!
