Punks and Panels

This is an episode that has been in the works for quite some time. Tristan Gallagher is the owner of Coast City Comics in Portland ME. Coast City is a seamless synthesization of all of Tristan's interests into one store. Part Comic Book Store, Part skate shop, Part record store, part arcade, part horror memorabilia. Its a gem in the world of comics retail. 

We talk  his punk rock beginnings, the time Danzig came into the store, his upcoming comic Rad Wraith, and so much more.

Another great episode as we roll deeper into 2019. Drew Maxey and James Carrol make up two parts of St. Louis hardcore band Time and Pressure. In this episode we talk their introductions to comics, finding hardcore in the ashes of punk rock, where 'Midwest Hardcore' actually starts, when collecting becomes overwhelming and much more.

Reid and Ryan are both huge facets of the Raleigh NC comedy scene and have deep roots in comics, punk rock, metal, and skateboarding.  We deep dive into all of this and much much more.

This an episode that has been in the works for a very long time. Walter Delgado of the, in my opinion, seminal modern hardcore band Rotting Out drops in to talk comics, his upbringing, and drop a whole lot of knowledge for our listeners. Walter talks straight from the heart and we dive pretty deep into the latter years of Rotting Out.

Daniel Warren Johnson is a Chicago based artist whose previous work includes Space Mullet, Ghost Fleet, Extremity and more recently Murder Falcon. We talk finding comics and music in the shadow of a somewhat sheltered upbringing, his influences on Murder Falcon, guitar as a stress relief from comics work, fantastic music recommendations and more.

Daniel is one of my favorite artists currently in comics. He brings so much style, fluidity, and movement to his art and I can't wait to see what he does next.

Rob Turner is the vocalist/bassist of Torch Runner and Riley Till is a local artist and aspiring tattoo artist Rob tells us how to survive being broke and being in a band, some quality NC music history, Riley's time working in a comic book store, and a lot of comic talk including the books that have burned us. 

One of the best parts of my year was getting the opportunity to become friends with both Rob and Riley so it was a blast to finally record this episode.

Brian Wickman is a writer based out of Maryland & former guitarist of the bands Eddie Brock & Shokushinbutsu. In 2018 he self-published his comic 'Big White,' & is currently prepping for the release of his creator owned project 'Grit.' We talk about some gear nerd stuff, advice for new writers, the lowdown on some of his work, & a very peculiar Eddie Brock cover. Also; I say something that's gonna lose me some subscribers! I talked with Lennon Livesay of the bands Ecostrike, Seed of Pain, & many more. Lennon is one of the first people I met in hardcore that always made his love of comics apparent. Despite knowing each other for years this was our first time ever sitting down and discussing comics. We talk his personal history in comics, collecting, some of his bands, & spend a lot of time talking about Rob Liefeld

Matt Miner and Marie Enger are two parts of the Comic Collective, Circle Pit Press. In this episode we talk about growing up in punk rock and how that has influenced their work, the many projects that they are both involved with, and the importance of lifting up and supporting friends in the competitive comics industry. Matt has written titles like Gwar:Orgasmageddon, Liberator, Poser, and more. Marie's art can be seen in titles like Nosferatu, Punks Win compilation and her title FHTAGN & Loathing and more!

I sat down with my good friends Sam Romesburg and Adam Meadors, co-writers on Among The Willows, at HeroesCon in Charlotte to discuss their former band Distances, tours we've been on together and horror stories from the road, Comics as a DIY output, creating their first comic.
