In this episode though Henry finds it ridiculous, Punky arranges for Brandon to get married to Myron's dog Brenda.

Also in this episode we get treated to Brandon Flashback Heaven. So many clips of Brandon with Punky and also Henry as well as Brandon in so many outfits.

This was a great send off!

Today I'm covering S4E21: What’s Your Sign?, which aired on May 26, 1988.

In this episode Punky befriends a deaf girl. I really enjoyed this episode because it was a teachable moment from Punky. We learn that not everyone's the same and some people out there with disabilities have trouble fitting in. Punky shows us that all it takes is one person to like you for who you are and to see past your disability.

Maria taught Punky sign language which enticed the other girls to want to learn as well and hopefully they all became friends. I love Punky's message to Maria about not giving up when something is hard.

Well Punky sure finds herself in a conundrum after accepting dates from two boys on the same day at the same movie theater.

Yikes.

How will she get out of this mess?

In this episode Punky tries to juggle two dates at the same time.

Also in this episode we learn going to the movies with your parents is so uncool.

After calling up your crush on the phone and hanging up twice, he still wants to go out with you. He’ll even accept a date without knowing your name first.

Cherie didn’t pay for any of the snacks that she ordered (believe me I checked) , no money ever exchanged hands and she had the money in her hand the whole time. Plus that cashier never says one word.

Punky still thinks Brian’s a cool dude after he sends his brother to break their date with three different excuses.

1. Sore Throat

2. Flat Tire

3. Cat Died

Real Reason: He was grounded

I think Tom was the better choice, even if he broke up with his girlfriend for liking Michael Jackson and not Bruce Springsteen.

You can like both. I do.

Brian’s already got two strikes against him.

1. He sent his brother to do his dirty work for him and couldn’t decide on an excuse.

2. He basically puts down Punky’s movie choice, saying his is better and decidedly gets her a ticket.

That does not sound like a guy that’s worth my time.

Cherie and that dang camera.

I felt bad for all the people she and Punky were stepping on and tripping over as they kept switching theaters.

Surprised they’re not banned from that theater.

Look Out Ladies!

Mark-Paul Gosselaar (you all know him as Zack Morris) guest stars as Walker, a boy who’s juggling both Punky and Margaux’s affections in S4E19: One Plus Tutor Is Three which aired on May 24, 1988.

There'd be no contest if I were him, it’d be Punky every time.

Margaux is too high and mighty for him not to mention shallow, plus I think she’d eventually get tired of him and move on to someone else with more net worth since it’s all about money and social status with her.

Punky’s cooler and all about bringing the fun times. And you don’t have to have a lot of money for that.

In this episode Punky has a crush on her math tutor, who is more interested in Margaux.

Today, I’m celebrating the 100th of the Punky Power Podcast with a funny episode of the Saturday Morning Cartoon Punky Brewster entitled Call Me Ms.

This episode was hilarious.

Henry’s out of town on a photography gig and has hired a babysitter for Punky.

Punky feels she’s too old to have a babysitter and she can take care of herself, but Henry won’t hear of it.

I mean, it’s not like she’s not left home alone all the time.

At one point she even tells him she’s almost a teenager.

She’s 9! That’s not a teenager Punky!

After Henry leaves, she asks Glomer to make her older so she can do whatever she wants and no one will tell her what to do.

She gets a job at the Snack Shack across the street that is run by one person who before she arrived, was the cook, the waiter and the manager. He basically ran that place by himself and will continue to do so when he fires Punky a couple hours later. We can thank Glomer for some of that mischief.

Punky also thinks two dollars will buy her a ticket to a KISS Concert.

Cherie, Allen and Margaux don’t recognize Punky even though she looks just like and sounds the same, she’s probably a foot or so taller than them.

I love how she doesn’t understand why they don’t know it’s her. She manages to break a tire swing because apparently she weighs too much and gets stuck in the middle of the slide. Which seems impossible because how many times do parents slide down with their child on their lap?

Anyone miss metal slides? That’s how you know you were an 80s kid.

Also where was Brandon?

Maybe he was left out because he would have given away that fact that she was herself only bigger.

Let’s think of a common fear most people have: getting stuck in an elevator. Ok, great, now let's up the ante and add a pregnant woman going into labor who gets stuck in there with the girls.

Now Punky’s got a broken leg (as shown in the picture) so she’s gonna be out of commission and really be unable to do much, so that leaves Cherie (in her shining moment) to save the day.

Now in the four seasons of Punky Brewster we’ve seen Cherie grow up along with Punky. Cherie seems a little timid and usually is ok with Punky stepping up to take control of a situation.

Although when you think about it Punky tends to be the mischief maker and Cherie is the rational one.

I’m looking forward to Cherie being the hero for a change and getting her moment in the spotlight.

S4E18: Wimped Out

In this episode Punky - who has a broken leg - and Cherie are stuck in an elevator with a pregnant woman in labor.

The parent/child switch a roo was very big in the 80s, with hits like Freaky Friday (I know 1970s) Like Father, Like Son, Vice Versa, 18 Again, Dream A Little Dream and also Big, so it made sense to incorporate it to the small screen in sitcoms like they do in Punky Brewster S4E17: Vice Versa which aired on May 22, 1988.

In this episode In Punky's dream, Henry and Mrs. Johnson are the children while she and Cherie are the parents.

This episode was coo-coo bananas crazy.

Betty dressed as a child wasn’t bad, but Henry in a dark wig, now that was utterly terrifying.

Interestingly enough Betty’s retort to Margaux “You’ll get through life easier if you sew your lips together” and Margaux just sits there in stunned and shocked silence.

I thought that joke was going to continue like Margaux says something snotty back, but Betty just walks in the kitchen leaving Margaux confused.

This episode I gave 3 out of 5 Brandon Tail Wags.

Today I'm covering S4E15: No No, We Won’t Go.

Air Date: May 17, 1988

In this episode When Margaux's father buys the apartment building, Mrs. Johnson can't afford the rent increase he has proposed. Punky, Cherie, and Margaux protest the rent increase by going to his office and chaining themselves to his desk.

Also in this episode we find out that Brandon’s astrological sign is a Taurus which is apparently compatible to a Virgo.

And Margaux’s father in my eyes is the devil. All he thinks about is money, Scrooge McDuck is a saint compared to him. Thankfully Margaux talks some sense into him and makes him see reason.

Margaux has redeemed herself a little bit in my eyes after this episode.
