Join me Tuesday for S4E5: Brandon's Commercial which aired on May 3, 1988. In this episode Punky pushes Brandon into doing a TV commercial for dog food.

Then on Thursday we have S4E6: Passed Away At Punky's Place which aired on May 4, 1988. In this episode Punky and Cherie believe that a man has died at Punky's Place. When a newspaper's restaurant critic eats there, they fear that this will hurt the restaurant's reputation.

And on Saturday we have S4E8: Cosmetic Scam or (Beauty Lesson: Original Title)which aired on May 6, 1988. In this episode Punky and Cherie make money selling cosmetics with unexpected side effects.

Here to kick off Season 4 of Punky Brewster with S4E1: The Nun's Story which aired on April 27, 1988. In this episode Punky believes she has donated an urn containing Henry's Aunt Mabel's ashes to a convent.

Well, it wouldn't be a Punky Brewster episode without her getting in over her head and needing her best friend Cherie to help bail her out of trouble.

In this episode Punky has to get back an urn filled with the ashes of Henry’s deceased Aunt that she donated to a church rummage sale. Gah!

She enlists Cherie in her scheme of breaking in and helping impersonating a 7 ft tall Nun so they can get in, grab the urn and bounce before anyone sees them. This produces hilarious results.

What’s even more funny is the monsignor visiting the convent is tipped off by a suspicious nun and instead of busting them right away he decides to let this whole thing play out to see if they confess.

Lesson learned from this episode:

Check before you donate. Especially if it’s not your stuff, don’t just assume or else you could find yourself in Punky’s shoes or habit.

The two girls Impersonating a nun who looked to be over 7 feet tall and trying to get that urn of ashes back was so hilarious to watch. Plus the idea that Brandon got to ride shotgun to the drive in complete with a comfy pillow to rest his butt on while poor Betty had to ride in the trunk. Ole Henry the cheapor trying to save a couple bucks.

The Season 3 Finale is here !

S3E22: Unhooking Henry which aired on December 7, 1987.

In this episode Punky tries to help Henry break his addiction to sleeping pills.

I thought this episode was done so well, being it dealt with a subject as serious as prescription drug abuse.

It got the message across to kids that was straight forward enough to get the point across without scaring kids into thinking just because someone is taking prescription drugs does not make them a pill popper or pill head and not talking down to them.

Not once did I hear the term addict or addiction used it was “hooked” which was a great way to play it safe and also Punky’s Just Say No Program was referenced by Henry.

Good job writers and to George Gaines and Soleil for their awesome acting in this episode. Sent Season 3 off with a bang!

Did we just blow through summer break? I guess so cause there is no mention of the summer camp or Punky's Place.

S3E19: So Long, Studio

Air Date: December 2, 1987.

Photo developing tycoon Matt Glossy offers to buy Henry's studio for $100,000. When he accepts the deal, he ends up working for him. Dissatisfaction quickly sets in, so Henry quits his job. Since his contract with Mr. Glossy forbids him from opening another studio for several decades, he opens a restaurant instead.

I spend a bit of time in this podcast episode ranting about this Mr. Glossy man and his treatment of Henry. I also look up the average (2018) price of a skate board and see a familiar faced actress who played Mrs. Dempsey in this episode was also in Season 1’s episode Take Me Out To The Ball Game as Sister Bernadette. I also learned that back in 1987 when people wrote checks frequently, you were supposedly to show ID (Driver’s License or State ID) and apparently two credit cards. Good grief!
