Episode 20 - Luke Konkel is an entrepreneur, growing leader, and business student at Concordia University Ann Arbor. He uses his past experience of being an athlete, to show others that there is more to life than just being an athlete. He is wise beyond his years and is looking to help young, like-minded, ambitious individuals find their path to where they want to be. Luke has been a great friend and resource to me since we met several months ago, and I continue to learn and grow from him both in conversation and on social media.
Luke believes that helping others and providing value to them is the single most important thing we can do in life. If gives us a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and genuinely makes the world a better place. I enjoyed talking with Luke about how to avoid a fixed mindset, and instead shift to a growth mindset where we break away from complacency and continuously visualize what we want our lives to look like. In particular, I loved talking with Luke about humility, purpose, and how community and connectivity are so important and can help us start to live the lives we have always dreamed of.
Tune in to hear Luke and I discuss everything from what would happen if either of us were to die today, to his lessons from being the personal escort to Bill Walton and Bruce Arians. Here are some more things we talk about:

Episode 19 - Ryan McNulty is a two-time All-American lacrosse player and current captain at Loyola University Maryland. He is currently working towards his Master's Degree in Emerging Media while playing as a fifth-year Graduate Student. Ryan is also a two-time All-Patriot League player and has been elected Conference Defensive Player of the Week several times. He is currently one of the top-ranked players in all of College Lacrosse and has aspirations to play professionally after his time at Loyola is done. Despite all of these accolades, Ryan is one of the most genuine, caring, and down-to-earth individuals I know.
Ryan is a good friend of mine from high school and a former teammate of mine. When we were in high school, I always looked up to him because he was so humble and cared about everyone he came across no matter what their story was. As Ryan was putting together another All-American season and leading the Greyhounds with a goal of a National Championship, COVID entered the scene. In this episode, Ryan shares what it was like having his senior season cut short, how he reacted as a captain and kept his team's spirits up, and how he has stayed focused amidst the pandemic and has been leading remotely.
We also shared our recent self-discoveries and our daily practices of how we keep a healthy mind and body. "Be where your feet are," he told me. By being present in the moment, focusing on what you are doing right now, our minds can think more clearly and we can give our best effort on the task at hand. Ryan and I also talked about how by changing "I have to" into "I get to," we can look at our daily tasks with a greater sense of gratitude.
This conversation was incredibly valuable to be, sometimes just sharing our thoughts with a friend can be so therapeutic. Make sure to follow Ryan and watch him on his journey!

Episode 18 - Christian Payne is a current Licensed Realtor/Broker with Indiana's leading real estate firm F.C. Tucker Company, Inc. Meridian North Office in Indianapolis. He is also the General Manager at CycleBar and understands the hustle and mindset it takes to be successful. His motto is, "every day is a school day." In his young career, Christian has spent time working as a Sports Broadcaster, Coordinator of Multimedia & Marketing, several Internship positions for companies like Adidas, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Administration, and is a graduate of Denison College and holds a Master's Degree in Sports Administration/Marketing.
Christian was one of the people who got me started broadcasting during my Freshman year at Dickinson College as he served as the head of Red Devil Sports Network. He is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about the media industry and we both believe that it can be a driving force for good.
Throughout this episode, Christian and I talk about his motto, "every day is a school day," and why he believes that it is so important that everyone develop this mindset. If we treat every day like a school day, we will all become more well-rounded, sharper individuals, and be able to articulate different problems or scenarios and better know how to take action. Beyond that, life is so precious and short, as we also discuss in our conversation. If we truly understood that nothing is guaranteed and stopped taking things for granted, we could become far better off as a society.
We also discuss both of our time as student-athletes and how neither of our experiences worked out the way we had initially thought/hoped they would. However, it was in these trying times where we came to learn how to adapt and overcome, and take each hardship as a blessing as we came closer to self-realization.
This episode is jam-packed with valuable information that Christian has learned in his time since graduating from college in 2012, and I hope we can all take something away from his wisdom and experience.

Episode 17 - Cole Herzik is a 2nd year Dental Student, Graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in microbiology and cell sciences and minors in theatre and dance. He is also the Public Relations Manager and Social Media Coordinator for the Dental Student Vibes Podcast.
If you're anything like me, you're probably absolutely petrified of going to the Dentist's office. Why is that? Throughout this episode Cole explains to me how important it is for Dentist's to establish relationships with their patients to make for a more comfortable experience. You may not have thought about it before, but there is an immense amount of psychology that also plays into Dentistry.
Cole and I also discuss the state of our society and the social landscape of our current generation. We are a society that is obsessed with what is 'trending' or what is on the explore page of Instagram or TikTok. As we continue to surge head first into the digital age, it is crucial that we keep our goals, passions, morals, and motives in line and above all, stay true to ourselves. Cole is a very well-rounded, balanced individual with a good understanding around the psychology of we act the way we do and why we are always comparing our own lives to others. I really enjoyed this conversation and I truly believe there is a tremendous amount of value in this conversation.

Episode 15 - Kristin Hutchinson (@kristinbeingkristin) is a Boston based Comedian, Bartender, Wife, and Supermom. She takes the real-life experiences she's had growing up, being in relationships, working as a bartender, and being a parent and makes jokes out them. You know, the kind of things we all experience and want to say but are too afraid too- Kristin won't hold her tongue on the matter! She is the perfect example of starting something new that brings you happiness regardless of age.
In this episode, Kristin explains her tactics of non-traditional stand-up comedy and how she accidentally became a comedian! She is incredibly funny, intelligent, and brings with her a vibe and energy that will be sure to liven up the mood. She can balance comedy, bartending, and family life and often refers to herself as a babysitter, maid, and therapist depending on the time of day. All of the humor that Kristin has within her social media bits, stand-up acts, and YouTube videos is people-oriented and meant to bring happiness and laughter to her audiences through authentic experiences.

Episode 14 - I interview Mahogani Naravette who is an Atlanta based artist who sells her masterpieces on her website mahoganistudios.com and is currently enjoying all life has to offer and bringing positive vibes to all that are in her presence. She was also featured on Gary Vaynerchuk's 'Tea with Gary Vee'! Mahogani and I had a wonderful conversation about the beauty and authenticity of art and how she has been using it to express herself as well as make some money off of her works since she was in high school.
I found myself smiling and laughing throughout this entire episode. The energy that Mahogani brings is so authentic and contagious that she will make you want to throw whatever excuses you have out the window and start doing something meaningful with your life. However, this sense of gratitude and genuine love for life did not always come easy. Struggles with bipolar disorder, abusive relationships, and other unfortunate events have shifted her perspective and has found art to be an outlet where she can express herself and also bring value to others.
We also discuss how we are easily influenced by what we see on television in the media, and in-turn it results in a lack of our own judgement and common sense. Surrounding yourself with people that inspire and lift us up is crucial for our personal growth, rather than individuals who say it's acceptable to cope poorly with change out of spite for our own self confidence.
At the end of the day, unfortunate situations and changes in our lives are inevitable. Finding balance in our daily routines including healthy practices such as meditation, exercise, prayer, and a healthy diet will contribute to the betterment of our well-being.

Episode 13 - We are all guilty of overworking ourselves, feeling anxious, putting ourselves down, and focusing on all the negatives about ourselves. What if instead we chose to look at the positives in each situation and focused on what makes up feel the most inspired, happy, and fulfilled? Wow, I like the sound of that.
Mark Twain said, "the two most important days of your life are the day you are born, and the day you find your way." In this episode, I converse with Alejandro Navia Mejia, who was kicked out of Harvard after falsely being accused of plagiarism. He is now a Master Life Coach and dedicates his life to helping others find their 'what' and their 'why'. Alejandro refers to himself as, "a burnt-out entrepreneur" as he talks about the toll that extreme hustle took on him mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Eventually, he discovered his love for helping and being of service to others and has started a business that helps others live up to their full potential and uncover what they were put on this earth to do. So often we fall victim to our jobs and enslave ourselves in one thing or another. Allowing this to happen eliminates the balance necessary to live and practice a healthy lifestyle and takes a huge toll on our mental health and well being, in turn making less productive and more miserable in the long run.
I am working every day to figure out what my 'what' and my 'why' are. Here are some books talked about in the show that can help with self-development, critical thinking, the pursuit of one's purpose, and so much more:
