  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x13, "We Have Brought You Little Cakes"
Now that is how you cap off a stellar season. The talent behind this amazing show managed to craft something truly special this season. We've seen musical episodes and ensemble shows undertaking major heists. The Magicians manages to execute everything they do with a unique flair all their own. We saw a lot of amazing growth for these characters and the set up for more to come now that magic has been lost to our Children of Earth. The Gods literally shut the power off. No wonder Myerkofski was busy trying to power up as many magical batteries as possible.
Candis Cayne also made her debut as Queen of the Fae. We may have lost the always entertaining Ember and Umber, but the fae will no doubt introduce just as much chaos for our Fillorian royals. Listen in as Brad and Cort hit on their favorite moments of the finale and speculate on what may come when the show returns next year for season three.
What did you think of this season? Did you have the time of your life or what? What was your favorite plotline and which character do you think saw the most growth? Who will be the real threat next season? The Fae or the Gods? We've got a long wait ahead, but thankfully we can go back and binge this amazing season all over again. Until next time...oh and per Jade Tailor (Kady), the kingdom has spoken and fans of the show shall henceforth be dubbed "Fillorians".

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x12, "Ramifications"
And just that fast, we are ready to break down the penultimate episode. How epic has this season been? Don't feel sad about the season winding down though, because news dropped today letting us know that our Fillory favorites will be back next year for Season 3!
There are certainly plenty of ramifications to go around from the plentiful well of trouble that Penny, Alice, and the others jumped headlong into from the very beginning of this season. Quentin and Jules have returned from their jaunt to the underworld. They make quick work of reuniting baby Alice with the Niffin in their lives. Just that quickly their friend is back, but she's not quite the same. She had so much power and knowledge at the tip of her fingers, and it slipped away just that quickly. Q and Eliot spend much of the episode trying to find track down the portal that might give them admittance back into Fillory.
Kady and Jules make peace and continue their quest to bring down Reynard. The results of their mission are shocking, to say the least. Meanwhile, Penny finally manages to find his way into the poison room. He gets Kady's book, but not without consequences. He also learns that there's more at peril than the fate of magic. Everyone has a book and something world-stopping is coming that leaves every single person living with 20 blank pages in their books.
Listen in as Brad and Cort break down this all new episode. What did you think of Josh's turn as the high king? Is Hakuna Matata a fitting approach when it comes to ruling a kingdom? Can Josh do anything to help Fen and Margo? What could the gods have to do with those blank pages? Hit the comments and let us know what you thought of this week's all-new episode 2x12, "Ramifications". One more to go. We're not ready!!!

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x11, "The Rattening"
A plague upon your castle indeed! On top of all of their other issues, Margo and Eliot have a new set of problems. Or pests rather. Some dark force is at work in Fillory and this time around it's turning the locals into snakes and rats. Eliot fears that his pregnant wife now has a tail and whiskers, but Margo knows better. Eliot's bestie spends most of the episode wrestling with her guilt and trying to figure out a way to fix things when the decision is taken from her hands.
Julia and Quentin make their way to the Underworld after facing off with one badass dragon. Millenials beware. The duo makes an interesting discovery or two while they wandering Hades and Persephone's realm, searching for Julia's shade. Also, Julia sees more than one familiar face in the hereafter. Meanwhile, Penny and Kady continue plotting their way into the library's poison room. They even enlist an interesting new ally who can hijack her way into Penny's dreams. Oh, how the tables turn. Quentin should enjoy that particular gem.
Listen in as Brad and Cort break down this week's all-new episode, "The Rattening". What a crazy ride this season has been. We can't wait to see what's in store for the finale two episodes. Be sure to hit the comments to let us know what you thought of the episode. What was your favorite twist? Let us know.

  • ‘Talking TV With Liz and Lindi’ podcast recap: ‘The Walking Dead’ 7×15, “Something They Need”
*NOTE: We say 7x14 in the podcast, but it's episode 7x15!
With one episode left until The Walking Dead's season 7 finale, there's a lot to discuss. Though "Something They Need" was a solid episode with lots of strong moments, it seemed at times to just serve as the set up for the big finish. But we're fine with that! We're left with so many questions after watching it — most importantly, when is Carol going to swoop in and save the day?
    In this podcast, we discuss:
-Why Dwight has had one of the best character arcs this season
-Whether or not Eugene is still Team Rick
-Who is 100% going to die in the season finale
-The one scene from "Something They Need" we were disappointed with
-Who Negan's "Little Birdy" could be
-And how the grand finale will most likely conclude
Make sure you tune in each week for a brand new episode of Talking TV With Liz & Lindi, and be sure to check out more of Pure Fandom’s geektastic, original podcasts on PureFandom.com.

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x10, "The Girl Who Told Time"
There be dragons. Of course! You can't have a show about magicians and not have the lumbering creatures somehow show up. Dragons would be the gatekeepers of the Underworld. This show continues to think outside of the box when it comes to portraying the fantastical. Quentin juggles double duty this week as he gets pulled into preparation for Elliot's upcoming nuptials, and helping Julia reconnect with her shade. Q's bestie appears to be remorseful about almost getting him killed. Or rather she knows she should feel remorseful and decides to help in discovering more about shades. How? By connecting with Alice from another timeline.
Olivia Taylor Dudley has show incredible range this season as she played so many different incarnations of her original role. Now that time-travel is a thing, perhaps we will see her again sooner than later. Or maybe Quentin and Julia will find Alice's shade during their search for Julia's own. Or maybe NiffinAlice will appear again. There are so many possibilities. Elsewhere, the amazing Marlee Maitland (Switched at Birth) popped in Kady and Penny's storyline. Penny is now working for the library and his first assignment involve's Matlin's Harriet. She knows much about dark magic and the magically encoded memes of the interwebs.

  • Super Talk: Supergirl 2x17 - Distand Sun
    SuperTalk 2x17 - Distant Sun
Supergirl Season 2, Episode 17, “Distant Sun”, aired March 27, 2017
This is Supergirl firing on all cylinders and it is GREAT!
It’s almost as if Greg Berlanti is listening to Super Talk! Pretty much EVERY issue we have been having with Supergirl this season was absent from this episode. Of course nothing is perfect, but this episode is what we love to see from Supergirl and we want to see more!
Karamel is back on, Malex gets hit by an ex, Mon-El discovers helicopter parenting and Linda Hamilton is FINALLY BACK!!!
While we didn’t watch the Flash/Supergirl musical, it’s clear that the events of the crossover bring Kara and Mon-El back together again, and this is fine, as long as they don’t keep breaking them up and putting them back together again.
While Karamel is back on, Malex gets hit with an ex and it looks touch and go there for a bit, but the writers handled this BEAUTIFULLY, making for a great mini arc within the episode.
The central conflict of the episode is Mon-El’s parents and oh boy is Teri Hatcher FABULOUS in this episode.
All and all we LOVED this episode and hope the rest of the season is as good as this episode is.

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x09, "Lesser Evils"
And we thought Julia and NiffinAlice were tough nuts to crack. Our two most reckless Magicians have nothing on those mercurial fairies that strike that craziest of bargains with Margo. Although it is tough to top trading your bestie’s unborn child to stop a war, Julia does her level best to do just that in her latest attempt to get at Renard. Julia throws her best friend to the wolf…or rather fox lurking at the gates. She does it in hopes that Quentin will loosen his hold on NiffinAlice who might be powerful enough to take down Renard on her own.
Meanwhile, Penny and Kady have their hands full trying to protect Dana and Renard’s newfound demi-god son. Apparently, Julia doesn’t care whether the young Senator lives or dies, as long as she can harness his powers to take down her rapist. In Fillory, war has begun only the kingdom’s reserve of soldiers are in short supply (Thanks, Jules).
Listen in as Brad and Cort discuss the wildest twists and turns of the episode. What will Eliot say when he finds out about Margo’s deal with the fairies? How cool and creepy did they look? Also, Eliot, Fen, and Margo’s impromptu musical!!! What an unexpected delight. How much darker can Julia possibly get? Also, is this the first ever case of sexually transmitted lycanthropy? • Super Talk - Supergirl 2x16 - Star Crossed
    SuperTalk 2x16 - Star Crossed
Supergirl Season 2, Episode 16, “Star Crossed”, aired March 20, 2017
We’re kind of over Supergirl at this point.
This week is ALL about relationships, and it’s both great and terrible. The twin story arcs are the arrival of Mon-El’s parents and the fallout of that on the Karamel ship; and Wynn and Lyra’s relationship.
With these relationships and the dual storylines, we have the best and worst of Supergirl all wrapped up in a single episode. The worst is Karamel.
This relationship is borderline abusive wrapped up in the stupid on again off again trope. Kara’s immediate reaction to anything Mon El does wrong is to reject him, and it keeps happening over and over again.
And we’re not saying she shouldn’t be upset about Mon-El lying, or that the relationship should be written as if everything is always perfect. She should be mad about him lying to her, and their relationship should have difficulties, like every other relationship does. That’s to be expected, but if Supergirl is an empathetic person who cares about other people, then she shouldn’t be treating Mon-El this way.
On the flip side of that, we have the wonderful treatment of Wynn and Lyra. And by that I mean that Lyra and Wynn go through a very difficult situation in this episode, and they come out the other side stronger for it! If anything I would have expected what happened with Supergirl and Mon-El to be switched for what happened with Lyra and Wynn.
Oh, and some rando shows up at the end of the episode as the lead in to the musical crossover episode of flash. This was a bit amusing if entirely too convenient and we’re looking forward to this episode of The Flash. Hopefully it’s close to the being as good as the musical episode of Buffy.

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x08, "Word as Bond"
We finally learn more about those complications that Kady was telling Julia about at the end of last week’s episode. The Exorcism worked and the little demi-god is gone. Along with Julia’s shade. What also has consequences, being killed or having your clay doppelganger get murked while your spirit is in there. Also, we finally learn more about Niffin Alice and the toll keeping her locked down ...most of the time is having on Q.

  • 'Talking TV With Liz and Lindi' podcast recap: 'The Walking Dead' 7x13, "Bury Me Here"
Fans have been raving about The Walking Dead's latest episode, "Bury Me Here," us included. Season 7, while it's had its fair share of great moments, has felt lacking in its usual magic at times. But thanks to stellar performances by Lennie James (Morgan) and Melissa McBride (Carol), and coupled with Scott Gimple's killer storytelling, this episode really blew us away.
    In this podcast, we discuss:
-Why Morgan snapped and what this means for his character now
-Whether or not what Richard did was justified
-Our hopes for Carol now that she's back in action
-Theories on how Rosita and Sasha's assassination attempt will end (and how pissed we are that they are even doing this)
