  • Star Wars Theory Series Part 18: The top 'Episode VIII' revelations from Vanity Fair's cover story
    Star Wars Theory Series is hosted by Pure Fandom Co-Founder Liz Prugh and her brother Patrick Pochop (talking about Star Wars is one of the only ways she can get him to hang out with her). They frequently have their other two brothers/Liz’s husband and self-proclaimed Star Wars experts as guest hosts. New episodes posted on Friday's, where they break down a new theory and news about the film franchise.
    This week we are joined again by guest-host Eric Prugh to talk about the latest in Star Wars news from Vanity Fair’s May 2017 cover story. Filled with stunning images (shot by the iconic Annie Leibovitz) of the late Carrie Fisher and the rest of Episode VIII’s starring cast, the feature shares new insights into the film from it director and screenwriter Rian Johnson, as well as heart-warming behind-the-scenes memories with Fisher, plus (a little) insight into the franchise’s three new major characters—created by Johnson himself.
    In this podcast, we break down Vanity Fair’s cover story highlights about Episode VIII, as well as Episode IX:
    -Confirmation from Johnson about Luke’s whereabouts;
    -Insight into the dynamic between Luke and Rey in Episode VIII
    -Details on the three new characters in the franchise, including Benicio Del Toro’s “DJ”;
    -How Disney’s Kathleen Kennedy keeps all things Star Wars canon—from animation, to video games, to film, and more;
    -The glamorous new "Monte Carlo-esque" setting Johnson created for Episode VIII
    -Episode IX: How it initially was to have Leia at the forefront, and what Kennedy and team plan to do now;
    -BONUS: What Mark Hamill really thinks about his infamous “power converters” line from Episode IV: A New Hope.
    Other podcasts referenced in this episode:
    *Star Wars Theory Series Part 8: This theory may prove Rey is a Kenobi
    *Star Wars Theory Series Part 2: Benicio Del Toro in ‘Episode VIII’ & Lightsaber Duels in ‘Rogue One’

  • Super Talk: Supergirl 2x22 - Nevertheless She Persisted
    Supergirl Season 2 Episode 22 - Nevertheless, She Persisted aired May 12, 2017
    In this podcast we break down:
    - How boring superhero slugfests are
    - The problems with Supergirl and the Arrowverse at large
    - How the SFX budget for this episode was wasted
    - How to truly use lead to deal with the daxamites
    - All the setup done for Lena to turn on Kara/Supergirl
    - What we want to see from Supergirl in season 3
    - The possibility of Calista Flockhart returning as Cat Grant in season 3
    - The lessons Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D could teach the Arrowverse teams
    We want more. The bottom line is we want more from our heroes in general and the Arrowverse in general. Yes our heroes should be flawed, and yes they should make mistakes and have problems to deal with, but they shouldn’t be idiots. This season finale of Supergirl was meant to be big and flashy and emotional and heavy, but it instead felt heavy handed, overly dramatic and contrived.
    Supergirl is suffering from the same problems as The Flash, and the easiest way to identify the problem is to say that it feels like they’re being too literal in the translation of comic book ideas into television. In doing so they’re missing the opportunity to address the flaws and tropes of the comic book genre.
    Be sure to share your thoughts on this episode in the comments, or tweet at us (@heniadis and @kheniadis). We’d love to hear what you think and what you’d like to hear from us.
    Tune in to Supergirl every Monday at 8/7c on The CW, and join us every Wednesday for SuperTalk! Head to Pure Fandom’s podcast hub for more weekly shows on The Walking Dead, Syfy’s Van Helsing, Star Wars and more.

  • '12 Monkeys' binge recap: Brad and Cort Talk about that Season 3 Finale (Eps 8-10)
    Now that's how you end a season in epic fashion. We finally got some resolution about the true identity of the Witness and Athan chooses a side. We got a lot of answers, but they couldn't let us go without leaving us go with a few big questions. Brad and Cort are back to piece together this season's timey-wimey puzzle and the set up for the finale season. The final three episodes of the season gave a deeper glimpse into Athan's beginnings and the events that initially made him decide to follow through with his dark destiny. Cassie and Cole spend much of the time trying to break through to their son and on the run from their former compatriots.
    Meanwhile, Jones is so desperate that she's willing to listen to Olivia. This, of course, is what the other woman has been plotting all along. Everything slowly comes together for the reveal that the Witness they've all feared is not Athan, but Olivia. Jennifer is still all kinds of #TeamCassieandCole. She does her best to keep Jones just one step behind the lovers. This works until Olivia points out the obvious. Thankfully, once it is revealed that Olivia was plotting against them all along, the team manage to come together again.
    Listen in as Brad and Cort break down the final three episodes of the season (3x08 "Masks", 3x09 "Thief", and 3x10 "Witness"). Cort has her theory about Jennifer's role in everything. Brad can't wait to see what happens next. What was your favorite Jennifer-ism of the season? Is this the last we've seen of Athan? Yea, Brad and Cort don't think it is either. There's still plenty of story left to be told. This season was the show at it's absolute finest, and the binge only helped highlight this fact. We wouldn't mind if they did the same with season 4 next year. What do you think? Hit play and then be sure to hit the comments below.

  • '12 Monkeys' binge recap: Brad and Cort Talk Nature vs Nurture (eps 5-7)
    Tell me that you didn't sing along or at least bop your head to the classic and highly appropriate, "Turn Back Time" by Cher. No worries, I was there right along with you. How fun was that tonight's first episode, "Causality". Put Jennifer Goines in charge of a heist? Yes, immediately. You have a winner just watching her plot things out. Even Jones thought it was genius. Sure the older woman's form of praise for Jennifer's genius plan was in telling her not to effe it up.
    Still good times all around. And seeing everybody wearing their 80s best was also fantastic. A few weeks ago during an interview, Amanda Schull revealed that she loved splintering to different decades and the 80s was one of her favorites just because she got to see Aaron getting his "Marty McFly" look on. Speaking of reveals, Jones makes quite the discovery about Ramse's death and the Witness' origin. The conversation does not go so well for Cassie and Jones' relationship. Now that Cassie is back, she and Cole have a difficult time dealing with the truth about who their son becomes. Cassie thinks that their son, Ethan became the Witness because of the influence of those around him. She wants to try to save him, but Cole isn't sure that this is possible.
    Listen in as Brad and Cort break down tonight's round of episodes (3x05 "Causality", 3x06 "Nature", and 3x07 "Nurture"). Can't believe that the season will be over after tomorrow. It's been well done on all counts. What do you think of the binge so far? If you missed any of the episodes or want to re-watch before tomorrow's season finale, the network has been great about posting the episodes on their website or through the app. This entire arc has been amazing, methinks that "Causality" is my fave episode of the season so far. Good, fun times mixed in with some of our favorites dealing with their latest trauma. And there's more to come tomorrow.
    Hit play and check out Brad and Cort's takes on the night's best moments and discoveries. Afterward, be sure to hit the comments below to let us know what you thought of the episode and what you hope to see before the season wraps?

  • ’12 Monkeys’ Recap: Brad and Cort Talk Night One of Syfy’s Epic Binge Event (Eps 1-4)
    Cult fave, 12 Monkeys splintered back into our lives and it did so in epic fashion. Brad and Cort are back to break down the first four episodes of the season. How are you guys doing out there? Mind still spinning from all things timey-wimey? Same for us, but how glorious were those four jam-packed hours? So many things happened. Cassie's first meeting with her son isn't quite as she expected. Cole puts in over time searching for Cassie. Paradox in a box. What to do when the enemy is someone so close?
    Listen in as Brad and Cort take some time to dig into the interesting twists and turns from each episode. How badass is Hannah? She truly is a daughter of Jones and Old Jennifer. Speaking of Jennifer, Emily Hampshire is a frigging revelation. Of course, we knew this from her amazing portrayal of Jennifer Goines. This season takes things to the next level on all counts. Also, the fact that this was a binge works so well. Hit play and listen in, then drop a comment to let us know what you thought of tonight's amazing episodes. Was Future Cole right when he told the other one that the future was already written and couldn't be changed? What moment left you speechless? Did you cry? We totally cried and laughed. Lots to think about before we get three more episodes for night two of this 3-day binge (Eps 3x5: Causality, 3x6 Nature, and 3x6 Nurture).

  • Star Wars Theory Series Part 17: This is what fans need in a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie
Each week they break down a new theory, and of course make fun of each other.
    In our last podcast we broke down the possible meanings behind the The Last Jedi trailer, and this week we are talking all things Obi-Wan. With the Han Solo spinoff coming out in 2018, it only seems fair to fans of the Star Wars universe that there be a dedicated movie to one of the greatest jedi in the film franchise, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
    In this podcast, we break down:
    -The several different storylines that could possibly make up an Obi-Wan film (or series of films);
    -What Ewan McGregor said in a May 2017 interview with Jimmy Kimmel about the possibility of a solo Obi-Wan film;
    -Why a dedicated Obi-Wan film could possibly be delayed due to information that will be revealed in Episode VIII;
    -How Darth Vader and the Inquisitors could fit into an Obi-Wan film;
    -What fans in our Star Wars Facebook Group said they want from an Obi-Wan film'
    -Two special guest stars: Liz's husband Eric and Liz and Pat's dad and Star Wars expert, Poppa P!

  • Super Talk - Supergirl 2x21 - Resist
    Supergirl Season 2 Episode 21 - Resist aired May 15, 2017
    In this podcast we break down:
    - How Cat Grant brought the heart to this episode
    - Why the President is an idiot
    - Why we’re still frustrated with Supergirl
    - Why Lena is awesome and why she’ll go evil
    - The awesomeness that is Wynn
    This episode was decidedly MEH. Even though we had Calista Flockhart and Lynda Carter in this episode, it just wasn’t all that exciting. With one episode left in the season it looks like we’ll be ending on a down note. Though Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant owned her scenes and Teri Hatcher chews some good scenery, this episode is best described as boring.

  • Super Talk - Supergirl Episodes 19 (Alex) and 20 (City of Lost Children)
    Supergirl Season 2 Episode 19, Alex, aired May 01, 2017 AND Episode 20, City of Lost Children, aired May 08, 2017
    In this podcast we break down:
    - Why Mon-El is currently a pointless character
    - Why the Jimmy/Guardian storyline should be cut entirely
    - What Supergirl does right (and what its doing terribly wrong)
    - How badass Alex is
    - Why we’re so frustrated with Supergirl
    - What we’re looking forward to in the last episodes of the season
    - Whether or not we’re going to be watching Season three.
    We did NOT love these episodes. This season has been so uneven that we’re not even sure we’re going to watch season 3. With Calista Flockhart returning to wrap up the season we’re still looking forward to the final episodes, but at this point we’re not expecting much.

  • Super Talk - Supergirl 2x18 - Ace Reporter
    Supergirl Season 2, Episode 18, “Ace Reporter”, aired April 25, 2017
    Another GREAT episode of Supergirl!!
    In this podcast we break down:
    - How amazing Rahul Kholi is
    - Mon-El’s Man-nection
    - Thursday morning knife training
    - Character reactions on crack
    - Shoehorning The Guardian into the episode
    - Supergirl’s unemployment status
    - What superpower we’d like and how we’d use it
    - The setup to send Lena to the darkside
    We loved this episode and while Spyros has reservations about the setup to put Lena and Supergirl at odds, it’s exactly what Kim wants. Either way, we’re looking forward to the rest of the season!

  • Star Wars Theory Series Part 16: The biggest revelations from 'The Last Jedi' trailer
    We're BACK! After our winter hiatus, we're pleased to return with another podcast episode of Star Wars Theory Series. In Part 16 of our podcast, we break down The Last Jedi teaser revealed at the Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration. While the teaser was very similar to the one released for Episode VII: The Force Awakens, we still have theories and revelations based on what we saw — and what/who we didn't see in the teaser.
    In this podcast, we break down:
    -What the book/piece of paper was that (Rey?) seemed to be touching with her voiceover stating, "dark versus light", and where we've seen that before in canon Star Wars lore;
    -The fact that we didn't see Benecio Del Toro, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, or Snoke's characters in the trailer, and how it could be on purpose to mislead us;
    -If Finn's significance is more than what's lead on;
    -Why it's 99.99% possible that we'll (finally!) see a the process of a lightsaber being made;
    -Why Luke could be the true chosen one, and why he might be the greatest Jedi of all;
    -and much, much more!
