  • God's Attributes-Pt 1-God is Holy
The sermon addresses the challenge of defending the Christian faith against accusations from unbelievers by grounding believers in the character of God. It emphasizes that spiritual attacks originate from Satan and cannot be properly discerned by those who are spiritually dead. The central focus is on the attribute of God's holiness, defined as His unparalleled majesty, moral purity, and transcendence above creation. By examining biblical visions in Isaiah and Revelation, the text illustrates that God's holy nature demands reverence and awe while providing believers with the confidence to approach Him through Christ's righteousness. Ultimately, understanding God's holiness strengthens faith and equips Christians to respond to opposition with wisdom and grace.

  • WHEN GOLD ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH
WHEN GOLD ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. [Heaven's Standard of Value]Matthew 6:19–21; 1 Peter 1:7; Revelation 21:21 KJV Deep beneath Manhattan, hundreds of thousands of gold bars are carefully guarded in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Nations consider gold so valuable that they weigh it, verify its purity, record its ownership, and protect it behind enormous security. Yet the Bible tells us about things far more valuable than gold. Our faith is "much more precious than… gold." God's wisdom is better than gold. God's Word is to be desired "more… than much fine gold." And our salvation wasn't purchased with silver or gold, but with "the precious blood of Christ." Jesus therefore commands us not merely to accumulate earthly treasure, but to "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven." One day every earthly fortune will be left behind. And when God's children enter the New Jerusalem, we will discover that the substance mankind spent centuries fighting to possess is beneath our feet—the street is "pure gold." What earth treasures, Heaven uses for pavement. The greatest treasure isn't gold at all. The greatest treasure is Jesus Christ. So, ask yourself: Where is my treasure—and where is my heart?

  • Book Review: Disciplines of a Godly Man by R. Kent Hughes
Disciplines of a Godly Man is R. Kent Hughes's landmark call for men to pursue godliness through intentional, Spirit-empowered discipline. Writing 'man to man,' Hughes grounds his argument in 1 Timothy 4:7 — 'train yourself to be godly' — where the Greek word for 'train' (gumnazō) conjures the image of an athlete sweating in a gymnasium. This is no burden but a liberation: the same discipline that freed Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel or Churchill to give 'impromptu' speeches frees men to soar in the Spirit. Organized into five thematic sections — Relationships, Soul, Character, Ministry, and Discipline — the book moves through nineteen chapters covering purity, marriage, fatherhood, friendship, the mind, devotion, prayer, worship, integrity, the tongue, work, perseverance, the church, leadership, giving, witness, ministry, and the grace of discipline. Originally published in 1991 and revised for the 10th anniversary edition, the book addresses the statistical reality that men lag dramatically behind women in spiritual engagement, and calls the church to recover authentic masculine discipleship rooted in the gospel.
