Purple Reign

On Thursday November 6 2025 the PWHL reintroduced PWHL Vancouver & PWHL Seattle to the world revealing their name, logo and identity In this episode we take a more in depth look at the Vancouver GoldeneyesWatch their intro video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O70QAAAh1NU

Mouthing Off MilanOn this edition of the Olympic Hockey Show things get mouthy towards the comments made by the NHL commissioner who viced his concerns about the ice at the arenas that will be used in MilanGiven the NHL's track record and relations towards international play this doesn't surprise me one but but it does anger me as this doesn't help matters especially as the men don't head to Milan until Feb 11 whereas our girls will be there from Feb 5

On November 6 2025 the two new editions to the PWHL unveiled their names, logos and brands and oh my did Seattle & Vancouver get the assignment as both teams just like the Inaugural Six have outstanding brands Like for brand reveal day last year the Purple Trio come together to give their thoughts on the brand reveals for the Seattle Torrent and Vancouver Goldeneyes and oh boy did they make our jaws drop

In an unexpected announcement our Back to Back Walter Cup champions Minnesota Frost have revealed the first ever championship jerseys in the PWHLWhile there aren't much differences to our standard kits the entire Purple Trio think this is a brillant idea to celebrate our achievements and I believe this is the first time I've seen this in sports in general

On October 29 the Ottawa City Council held a meeting where both Jayna Hefford and Amy Scheer attended representing the PWHL where they set the record straight and made it clear how much they care about OttawaBoth women stood their ground against an uneducated council full of boneheads who at various points asked questions that were either hypothetical or not relevant to the Ottawa ChargeWatch the meeting here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asifIBtGBFo

A council meeting has now taken place and the PWHL fights back as the city council and mayor try to paint our league as the bad guysThe Purple Trio gathers to unpack all of the latest from that Oct 29 meeting as we gear up for a vote next week which could have major impacts for the Ottawa Charge

On this edition of the Olympic Hockey Show the Purple Trio reacts to the new rule change which sees neck guards being mandatory for the Winter Olympics for the very first timeThis is something we all agree on however Lady and I can't shake the fact that is in response to a horrible tragedy that happened in 2023 rather than it being done to help improve the gameThe incident in question happened at a game in England which means because of my mental health I can't go into it but I'll leave an article for you to read what happened Read about the tragedy here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/ice-hockey/67253892

Our two new expansion teams have their jerseys and it looked like they were all set for the Inaugral Six route which the Purple Trio thought was going to happen when the teams were announced in AprilSo imagine our surprise when in the press release it was announced that Vancouver and Seattle ARE going to receive their names & brands before the start of this season which has me both stunned and frustrated at the same time

Alarm bells are ringing in Chage Avenue as there are fears that TD Place could be demolished and replaced with a smaller arena with less capacityThis is an outrage as the both the PWHL & the Charge have said this is not acceptable but their concerns are being ignored by city officials and the mayor of Ottawa who clearly don't care about the one thing that has Ottawa on a map right now

A recent article on The Hockey News talked about five memories from the women's program in the Olympic Games over the yearsSome of them but not all of them took place since I got involved with the program in 2010 and some of them made for quite interesting reading
