Purple Reign

One of the big things that made the PWHL stand out in Year 1 was its commitment to neutral sites as a way to grow the product and for Year 2 that intitive has grown further with nine markets getting to host gamesAnd the good news is all six teams will be involved which is a relief for us Frost fans as both Minnesota & New York were snubbed from these events last yearTakeover Tour DatesJan 5: Montreal Victoire at Boston Fleet (Seattle)Jan 8: Montreal Victoire at Toronto Sceptres (Vancouver)Jan 12: Montreal Victoire at Minnesota Frost (Denver)Jan 19: Ottawa Charge at Montreal Victoire (Quebec)Feb 16: Toronto Sceptres at Ottawa Charge (Edmonton)Feb 23: Boston Fleet at New York Sirens (Buffalo)Mar 7: Ottawa Charge at Minnesota Frost (Raleigh)Mar 16: Minnesota Frost at New York Sirens (Detroit)Mar 29: Ottawa Charge at Boston Fleet (St.Louis)

Whilst I'm not a gamer myself this is indeed another huge milestone for womens hockey as you are now able to play with all the PWHL teams in the video game NHL25

This past weekend saw the PWHL committ its first offence as instead of that wekend's games being avaliable on YouTube as they're supposed to be they were instead sent to Twitch via the league's official websiteThis was a move that had the entire fandom in agreement that it was a stupid idea and it even caused a barmy between the Purple Trio that is still ongoing

I don't do advertising but I need to make an exception for the Jocks in Jills podcast which I discovered not long after the jerseys were revealed, the show presented by Tessa & Julia is a must see for all of us who are involved with womens hockeyWhether you're new to the PWHL or if like me you've been with the league since day 1 this show should be part of your weekly schedules as not only do our hosts talk all the latest in the PWHL they also feature interviews with PWHL players including members of our FrostCheck out Jocks in Jills - https://www.youtube.com/@UCByuXKeX_BakdYsvBUaA5wQ

This past weekend saw Year 2 of the PWHL get underway which meant it was time for our Minnesota Frost to make history and hoist our Walter Cup banner and it was a day that left the entire Purple Trio in an emotional wreckI was in tears from the moment the live stream started whilst Pluto & Lady held on until it was time to raise the banner, we could not be more prouder of our Minnesota Frost

It's hard to believe that Year 2 of the PWHL is right around the corner but before we begin the defense of our Walter Cup title the Purple Trio are here to recap on some of the amazing things achieved in the first ever season of the Professional Womens Hockey League

While the timing of its reveal might not have been perfect the excution however was flawless as we now have six stunning jerseys to go alongside the amazing brands that were revealed back in SeptemberThe Purple Trio is here as we share our thoughts on both home and road designs for the Inaugural Six and pick our favourite for each team which causes quite a few shocks and surprises

With the PWHL intending to expand by two teams next year the question now falls to where and in this bonus edition of Purple Reign the Purple Trio is assembled to make our casesCollectvely we all agree the PWHL should go to Seattle but we each have a difference of opinion on where the second team goes

Four days after the league wide reveal of team names and brands the New York Sirens revealed where their primary home venue would be for the upcoming season and its the home of the New Jersey DevilsThis change has me seriously concerned as New York is a rich hockey market and whilst the Sirens in their first year failed to make the most of it surely the PWHL can't give up on this market just yet
