Today, we're tackling anxiety, especially how it affects our kids. Here's the big truth: you didn't cause your child's anxiety, so drop the shame.
Anxiety is intense worry or fear. Everyone feels it sometimes, but for some, like our kids, it can be overwhelming. It's not your fault; it can be caused by chemical imbalances, genetics, and other factors.
Anxiety starts in the brain's amygdala, like an alarm system. It can be triggered by chronic stress, trauma, and negative thought patterns. Early intervention is crucial, trust your instincts as a parent.
Watch for signs like sleep changes, school refusal, and excessive worry. Kids can change negative thought patterns by identifying them, challenging them, replacing them with balanced thoughts, and practicing them consistently.
