We explore our purpose as followers of Jesus—A purpose that transcends the world being shut down. First if we long to be filled with purpose and passion that no pandemic can shake, we need to encounter Jesus. Because whenever we see Jesus for who he really is, the Lord, we tap into the renewing of our purpose, which is to share his love. Then we look at the new thing God is doing in this pandemic—He is showing us that we are the church and that every follower of Jesus gets to be a disciplemaker—it was never meant to be just the pastor’s job. We can’t bring people to church but we can bring the church to the people because we are the church. And finally God doesn’t use us in spite of our past but because of our past. Consider the crazed man among the tombs that Jesus encountered in Mark 5. When Jesus delivered the man, he not only was filled with love for Jesus but he was given purpose from Jesus. Go and tell everyone you story. Listen close, Jesus heart is beating in you, and every beat of his heart in you is saying share my love, this is your purpose!
