I heard Shaun White, the gold Olympian snowborder, tell a funny and interesting story about a mindset strategy he used to achieve his big goal of winning the gold medal (again)!

Some big goals, as exciting as they may be, can sometimes leave us feeling a little intimidated and overwhelmed. Shaun shares his secret on how he approached this goal with a renewed sense of excitement and inspiration - he figured out a way to make the goal fun!

A shocking reminder & beautiful lesson in TRUSTING THE PROCESS. 

In this episode I share an intense story about the US Marine Corps training - in a documentary I watched the instructors put the trainees through 1 specific excruciating task, which at first glance, could seem cruel and pointless. The instructors put the trainees in a room full of teargas!

But there are 3 specific and purposeful reasons these instructors inflict this pain on the trainees - to help them develop TRUST, FAITH and CONFIDENCE in their equipment, their instructors and most importantly, themselves! All of which they will need in the next stages of their life…

Their suffering had a payoff, even when they weren’t aware there was one. The same tends to be true for us in our own lives. 

We can search for and decide what the payoff is or what we want it to be, even in the amidst the suffering. Distinguishing “Pointless-Suffering”from “Purposeful-Suffering” will help us recognize the ways in which we are being strengthened, and what is preparing us for.

*** There are millions of people out there who need your gift! Who are the types of people that need your gift? Why do they need it? And how/why are you qualified to give it to them? And don’t you f*cking dare say you’re not qualified, because you just told me it is your strength! So, that qualifies you to help someone. 

This is one of the things I work on with my clients - Helping them recognize all the ways in which they already are a leader - and recognizing all the  micro &  macro ways  to step even further into their authentic leadership to create the life they truly want!

Today we're going take a look at a some of the common traps that a lot of us step in when determining our sense of worth & value (such as outsourcing our value) - And then we'll look at some more valuable, meaningful, and empowering ways to approach and step into our self-worth.

When we are not living into our Purpose – our Higher-Calling – that's when we desperately try to grasp onto (substances, status, wealth, etc.) to fill that painful void of shallow, empty, or outsourced self-worth.
