Transforming Your Name’s Meaning

Your past may be part of your story, but it does not have the authority to define your identity.

In this Purpose Wednesday episode, Coach Latasha S. Morgan concludes the five-part series on the importance of your name by exploring what it means to reclaim your identity and transform the meaning associated with your name.

Using Jacob’s biblical journey as an example, Coach Latasha explains how a person’s beginning does not have to determine their ending. Jacob was once recognized for deception and pursuing personal gain, but his story did not stop there. Through growth, faith, perseverance, and a life-changing encounter with God, Jacob became Israel.

You can grow. You can mature. You can change. You do not have to remain trapped beneath the weight of your past, other people’s opinions, negative family patterns, or an identity that no longer reflects who God is developing you to become.

In this episode, you will learn how to:

• Create a personal definition of your name that aligns with positive values and qualities.
• Connect your name with meaningful actions, including leadership, kindness, service, creativity, and faith.
• Speak positive, faith-filled declarations over your identity.
• Transform painful experiences from your past into wisdom and purpose.
• Reclaim who you are instead of allowing past mistakes to dictate your future.

Declare it with confidence:

I am strong.
 I am resilient.
 I am powerful.
 I am a leader.
I am the head and not the tail.
I am the lender and not the borrower.
I am above and not beneath.

Now ask yourself: What will you do to redefine or reclaim the meaning of your name? Will you allow your past to dictate your identity, or will you transform what you have experienced and use it for something positive?

Your past explains part of your journey, but it does not get the final word. God is still shaping your identity—and your story is still being written.

Biblical focus: Jacob’s transformation from Jacob to Israel
Genesis 25, Genesis 27, and Genesis 32:24–28

Embracing Your Name’s Legacy

What is carried in your name—and what will you do with it?

In this Purpose Wednesday episode, Coach Latasha S. Morgan concludes her four-part series on the importance of your name by exploring the power and responsibility of legacy.

Legacy is more than money, property, professional accomplishments, or possessions passed from one generation to another. It also includes faith, strength, resilience, education, values, wisdom, perseverance, responsibility, and the example we leave for those coming behind us.

Coach Latasha reflects on the legacy of her own family, including her father’s ministry, powerful prayer life, and commitment to teaching his children the Word of God and the importance of having a personal relationship with Him. She reminds us that the sacrifices and faithfulness of our ancestors helped prepare the road we now travel—and we have a responsibility to prepare that road for the next generation.

This episode challenges you to consider:

• What legacy is connected to your name?
• What did your family and ancestors pass down to you?
• Are you honoring and strengthening that legacy?
• What will you contribute so the next generation can go even further?
• What stories will people tell when they speak your name?

You do not have to repeat everything that came before you. You can honor your foundation while adding your own God-given gifts, purpose, and contribution. The question is not simply what you inherited—it is what you will do with what you have been given.

Your name carries a story. Make sure the life you live adds something meaningful to it.

Episode Title: Purpose Wednesday: The Power of Naming and Identity

Host: Latasha Morgan (Certified Christian Life Coach & Board Certified Master Christian Mental Health Coach)

Episode Description:

Welcome back to another deep and transformative episode of Purpose Wednesday! [00:27] This week, host Latasha Morgan brings us into week three of our ongoing series on the deep significance of our names, exploring The Power of Naming and Identity. [00:57]

Names are far more than just labels we carry; they hold absolute power and serve as a direct reflection of our identity. [01:03] A name identifies who you are, where you're from, your background, and your culture. [01:07] While the world sometimes uses names to place people in boxes or create stereotypes, Latasha unpacks how God utilizes the power of naming to build character and establish divine intent. [01:23]

Tune in as we dive into the book of Genesis and the book of Exodus to look at how naming shapes the reality around us and provides a blueprint for what we are called to achieve in this life. [01:41]

Key Takeaways From This Episode:

The First Act of Naming: A look back at Genesis Chapter 2, where God brought the animals and birds to Adam to see what he would name them, proving that names establish an association and identity we still use to this day. [01:41]

Jehovah Nissi—Our Banner: Diving into the book of Exodus to examine how Moses named God Jehovah Nissi ("The Lord My Banner"), identifying Him as our great general, protector, and the one who fights our battles. [02:26]

The Blueprint of Character: Reflecting on a powerful quote by Morris Mandel: "A name is the blueprint of the thing we call character." Latasha breaks down how what you do and who you are are intrinsically tied to your name. [03:53]

There is power resting inside your name, honey, but it is up to you to use it. [04:10] Take some time this week to reflect on the power you hold and ask yourself: what are you going to do with it? [04:14]

Episode Title: Purpose Wednesday: Forgiveness and Grace

July 24, 2024

Host: Latasha Morgan (Certified Christian Life Coach & Board Certified Master Christian Mental Health Coach)

Episode Description:

Welcome back to another vital episode of Purpose Wednesday! [00:26] In tonight's session, host Latasha Morgan introduces the ninth step in our transformational journey toward reshaping our worldview through scripture: Forgiveness and Grace. [00:42]

When we carry the heavy weight of grudges, unhealed hurts, and past offenses, it completely clouds our judgment and our spiritual eyesight. [01:31] We begin to view everyone else through the lens of our own pain rather than the light of Christ. [01:38] Latasha reveals how breaking this cycle requires us to release strings-attached expectations and choose to forgive freely and unconditionally—just as God has so generously done for us. [01:05]

Tune in to discover how extending unmerited grace not only fundamentally transforms your own heart and mind, but also completely shifts how you relate to, understand, and value the people around you. [01:59]

Key Takeaways From This Episode:

Unconditional Forgiveness: What it truly looks like to drop grudges and offer forgiveness with no restraints, no conditions, and no strings attached. [01:05]

Clearing Your Spiritual Vision: Understanding how harboring bitterness anchors you to the past and distorts how you interpret your present relationships. [01:45]

The Blueprint of Christ: A deep dive into Colossians 3:13, challenging us to look at the ultimate model of mercy—forbearing and forgiving one another simply because Christ first forgave us. [02:07]

You can't walk into a new worldview while holding onto old hurts. Choose to step out in forgiveness, extend radical grace, and let your healing begin today! [02:33]
