What does producing media content in the social good space look like? 

In this episode, Ingrid van der Walt shares her experiences of using content production as a tool to convey powerful stories that help move the needle on real issues faced in our world. From her journey with UNICEF's Coping with Covid series, to a VR project in Tanzania, Ingrid delves into how she takes on projects and sees them through as their messages reach the world.

In 2021 Rooftop was involved in a campaign for UNESCO that put the spotlight on the effects of crimes and threats of violence against journalists. This obviously not only has serious consequences for the lives of the journalists and their families, but also for freedom of speech and having an informed society. We chat to Kyle Lucas who directed the video that was part of the bigger campaign.

In our very first episode, The Collins Brothers, Tom and James, who are two of the directors at Rooftop, give insight into how Vaillante, a miniseries commissioned by UNICEF, was created. They also talk about long-format storytelling, UNICEF’s collaboration and support, some of the challenges faced in producing the miniseries, the casting, the series’ impact, and a whole lot more.
