Pursuing God with Dave and Gene

Just like Abraham, we learn to trust God through trials and testing. Abraham had to trust God for over twenty-five years to fulfill the promise that he and Sarah would have a son. God says “Trust me in the impractical and I will do the impossible.”

God called Abraham when Abraham was seventy-five years old. Abraham obeyed with complete and total commitment to what God had called him to do. What God was saying to Abraham was, “Close your eyes and take My hand.” God is telling us the same thing. Today’s episode asks the question, “Am I really following God? Am I 100% engaged?”

In today’s episode, Gene asks the question, “What does God intend for me to do with the blessings He’s given me.” When God called Abraham at 75 years old to go to an unknown land, Abraham had to step out in faith. But God promised Abraham three blessings: A new land, descendents, and that everyone would be blessed through him.

We have a God who promises to meet all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. God wants us to test Him with our financial and material needs by being generous in our giving. In this episode, Gene reminds us of the widow who discovered the God of the resupply. The prophet, Elijah, promised that her oil and flour would be resupplied every day if she would trust God. When we trust God for our eternal salvation, we can be assured that we can trust Him with our money.

Have you ever tested the trustworthiness of God?  In this episode, Gene shows that you can trust God even when your financial future is uncertain and you don’t understand your circumstances. Trusting God with your finances isn’t a monetary issue, it’s a trust issue. Just like the widow with the prophet Elijah, and the feeding of the 5,000, God has a way of taking our “little bit” and multiplying it.

A widow with a young son encounters the prophet Elijah, who asks her to bring him water and a meal. When she tells Elijah she has nothing, he challenges her to trust God with the little bit that she has. In this episode, Gene shows how the principle of trusting the God of the resupply works in our lives. If we trust Him first with our resources, He will supply our needs.

What does it mean to trust God? Jesus told his disciples to test him, then went on to feed 5,000 people with a few fish and five loaves of bread.  In this episode, Gene challenges us to test God in the area of our finances. His promises are trustworthy and He promises to provide.
