Pushing The Envelope: Music Decidedly Left Center

Greetings!

As usual, many newer releases in multiple genres together w/ some classic prog and an interesting thrift store find introducing me (and possibly you) to the music of Japanese composer, Shin-Ichiro Ikebe.

Enjoy!

Greetings!

This week's program is one of those where "real life" intrudes upon the amount of time available to spend on selecting music to air.  With this in mind, the tracks you'll hear are fairly long, though with no compromise made in quality. (Like I would do that...)

Enjoy!

Greetings!

As we close out 2023, I thought I'd sample a bit of new & classic prog in addition to sampling some tracks from releases I acquired thanks to this cool free music download web-site, "https://www.getmusic.fm/".

Per the site, "artists can promote their Bandcamp releases without having to worry about tracking codes. When a fan clicks the link to redeem a code, it's automatically redeemed, and the code is marked as used so that it won't be handed out again."

It's an excellent way to explore music in many different genres, for free!  Check it out.

Here's wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

Greetings!

This week's program features lots of new releases in varied genres in addition to another track from the Larks' Tongues In Aspic (The Complete Recording Sessions) 50th Anniversary release. LTIA has always been one of my favorite KC albums and now even more so with the new Steven Wilson and old David Singleton mixes. It only made sense to precede that track with a new take on the KC classic, "Starless" from Crimson alumnus, David Cross from his latest, "Ice Blue, Silver Sky".

Enjoy!

Greetings!

Welcome to today's UCONN Sports truncated edition of Pushing The Envelope.  It's quite amazing how much cool music one can pack into 59 minutes and 30 seconds!

A bunch of new things (Philip Blackburn, Cymbalic Encounters & Ozric Tentacles), vinyl re-release of Akiko Yano's second album and some older items that caught my ear this week, including Baltimore favorites, Matmos. (Baltimore now being my new musical gravitational center.)

Enjoy & Happy Hanukkah to those that partake,
