  • Sam Clarke (Photography & DJ Career, Community, DUST Radio, Censorship)

Sam Clarke is a Brooklyn-based artist, distinguished by his uncompromising style which he translates across various disciplines. • James Hoff (Career Path, Art & Music Practices, NYC in 2000's, Primary Information)

    Watch on Youtube

James Hoff is an artist living and working in New York. His work encompasses a variety of media, including sound, video, painting, and publishing.

Hoff’s multidisciplinary approach begins at the user level—the level at which we interact with consumer technologies, media, and data. He has worked with computer viruses, inaudible data signals, ear worms, culture bound illnesses, dead zones, and hacked google maps as tools and framing devices for works that reimagine and expand the creative potential of digital and cultural networks beyond their economic and corporate-engineered use value.

By exploiting and manufacturing technological and cognitive glitches, Hoff illuminates the social, political, and historical context of the software and media that we interact with on a daily basis.

Hoff co-founded Primary Information in 2006 to publish historical and contemporary artists’ books. The organization has published hundreds of titles, including facsimile editions of Art-Rite, Broken Music, Black Art Notes, Cornelius Cardew’s Stockhausen Serves Imperialism, Godzilla: Asian American Art Network, The New Woman’s Survival Catalog, and Womens Work as well as new works by Lawrence Abu Hamdan, DeForrest Brown Jr, Tony Conrad, Dara Birnbaum, Constance DeJong, Alexandro Segade, Martine Syms, and Flora Yin-Wong, among many others.

  • Asif Mian (NYC, Identity, Career Shift, Art Practice, Mythology)

Asif Mian’s art practice explores how events are perceived, processed, and passed on. Asif Mian has devoted much of his career—via video, installation, performance, and sculpture—to investigating the tenuous connections between the events that shape one’s life. Informed by science, mythology, and transcendentalism, Mian's breaking down and rearranging of medium evokes a liminal psychological space, where the “ghosts” of events and the mental processing of violence reside.

Mian earned a BS Genetics & BA Studio Art from Drew University, and an MFA from Columbia University (2018). He has a decade’s experience as a director of music videos, advertisements, and short films. Mian has participated in residencies at Skowhegan, Maine, MacDowell Colony, Vermont, LMCC Workspace, NYC, and AZ West with Andrea Zettel, Joshua Tree, California. His solo exhibits have been featured in Art Forum, Artnet, Art Observer, and The Dallas News.

Awarded the Queens Museum-Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artist, Mian’s multi-chapter project, ‘RAF’, was the focus of a solo exhibit at Queens Museum. Mian exhibited at The Kitchen for the Whitney ISP curatorial exhibit, The Shed: Open Call, BRIC, and Queens Museum International: Volumes.

Recently, Mian was an Artadia Award finalist, received the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Award, and participated in the Okayama Art Summit curated by Rirkrit Tiravanija.

  • GENG PTP aka KING VISION ULTRA (Growing up in New York City, PTP, Design, Bootlegging)

GENG PTP is a Manhattan-born, Queens NYC-based sound practitioner (producer, poet/vocalist, sound engineer, DJ), educator, archivist, visual designer, organizer, and physical trainer. With 3+ decades of participatory roots in NYC's underground music/DIY communities, he has been making work through a multitude of solo and collaborative processes. Most currently, he performs as KING VISION ULTRA (est. 2017), a channeling project considering memory and voice as quantum weaponry in relation to honoring/making/taking space, the archive (remembrance), and protecting the spirit. In January 2023, he released his fourth album as KVU, 'SHOOK WORLD,' featuring 16 collaborators + Algiers (Atlanta, GA). He also makes up half of Centenny Gz, a duo with Dreamcrusher.

GENG's organizing and coalition work expands to the visionary collective and label, PTP (Protect The Peace / Purple Tape Pedigree), which he established in 2009. As "counter-industrial purveyors of weaponized media," PTP stands to create space for us.

  • Dynoman (Karachi and NYC Electronic Music Scenes, Audio Production, Community)

Bio: Raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Dynoman is credited as being an instrumental piece in the formation and development of the Karachi underground & Pakistan electronic music scene. He has been producing electronic music under the Dynoman moniker since 2009, and co-founded Forever South, Pakistan’s first ever internationally recognized digital label in 2012. Over the years his sound has evolved with his experiences, remaining rhythm, percussion and forward focused. After moving to New York in 2017, Dynoman founded Rare Frequency Transmissions which he co-runs to this day. He is a frequent DJ in the Brooklyn underground and self releases most of his projects under the Dynoman Music label, to showcase the breadth of style and genre his productions harness. When he steps in the booth, his sets are unique to each performance, often having no idea what he will play, instead chasing the feeling of the moment that is being created in that instance.
