Putting Conscious Leadership into Real-World Practice, with Adam Rundle

Listen Later

We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series with your host Kirstin Gooldy. In today’s episode, we chat with Adam Rundle.

Adam is the Co-Founder of Clever profits, an accounting firm that offers accounting, tax, and growth strategies to online entrepreneurs as fractional CFOs. He also is a leadership trainer, a coach, and a sportsman.

Today’s conversation will focus on how conscious leadership impacts our businesses and lives, and elevating leaders where everybody matters

This concept of elevating leaders came from the book Everybody Matters written by Bob Chapman & Raj Sisodia, which focuses on the extraordinary power of caring for people in your business like family what can that can do for your business.

Adam & his team attended a training facilitated by Mike Budden who runs the Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute which focused on leadership development, personal development. This experience inspired him to create a year-long mastermind for his top 10 clients around leadership.

Adam’s background stems from coaching rugby in South Africa, from there, he got a chance to spend 6 weeks with the All Blacks rugby team in New Zealand where he got to experience how the most successful rugby team is people-centered,  coupled with a heavy family & culture orientation. He saw how this environment of care creates quality human beings.

  • A couple of insights from Adam includes: no business will truly survive without people, and that you've got to consciously learn how to be a good leader, how to care for people, lead people and give direction yet also be show empathy.
  • Adam also talks about why and how leaders need and can create balance in their businesses.  Being able to balance conscious capitalism, conscious leadership, around caring for people and building a good culture and environment, will result in you making your profits.
  • Additionally, you cannot work on your teams until you've worked on yourself, or are working on yourself. If you get alignment, you can then work on your teams, which you can then work on your business, and then you can move forward.
  • A true leader must create trust, and trust is developed from consistency. consistent with just being there, being present in all you do and in all your interactions, goes a long way to building trust.
  • Remaining  consistent in everything you do is a  pretty big building block to people, who want to trust someone
  • Expectations are a real thing and, miscommunicated expectations are  probably one of the biggest eroders of communication and trust and team-building

Summary.

You don't have to be at the forefront to be a leader. Being authentic to who you are and where best you can create impact is as profound as leading at the front.

Leadership is multifaceted in every way. It's about people. So the moment you put the people first, put their needs first that's where you win.

A journey of 1000 steps starts with one step, so start the journey.
