In honour of the opening round of the Suncorp Super Netball competition in Australia, our guest today is the incredible Bianca Chatfield. Bianca is a former Australian Diamond who had an illustrious career from 2001 to 2014 and has turned her hand to commentary in recent years. We run the rule over each match from the first round of SSN, hear which players stood out in the opening weekend and why she has changed her grand final prediction. We discuss who could replace Sammy Wallace at the New South Wales Swifts, the controversial 'Super shot', before moving on to the SSN as a whole and how this feeds into the Diamonds. In today's episode, we preview the Vitality Netball Superleague 2022 opening weekend and give our views on the new broadcast and coverage details for this season. We run the rule over each of the 11 teams and how they're tracking ahead of Round 1, and give our predictions for the match winners on this bumper weekend of netball.


Our special topic this week is all around imports in the VNSL. We have been itching to dive into this crucial topic since the shocking Telegraph article released last summer detailing the VISA restrictions around imports in the UK. To gain insight on this topic we chat to Sarah Gandon from the Netball Players Association, and current import for Manchester Thunder Shadine van der Merwe, formerly of Surrey Storm and the Adelaide Thunderbirds. We hear about the various challenges for import players in our league, how franchises and the NPA work to overcome these issues, and the personal impact they can have on our star players.
