Well, Welcome to the Becoming Better podcast. Where we go deeper into what we learned from last Sunday's message. Today on the show, Jason, Josh, and Ken sit down and talk about James chapter 1 versus 19-27. They answered a few questions that were submitted. And they finish off the podcast by talking about the call to action with foster care and adoption. If you are interested in fostering or adopting, we would love to invite you to a class that AZ 1.27 is doing at our Prescott campus. It's this Sunday from 1-5:30 you can register at https://quadcity.churchcenter.com/calendar/event/147968900
Most Christians thoroughly enjoy hearing good teaching. We are often wowed by truths that good teachers and preachers bring out of the text. The problem is, far too many of us don’t do anything with what we learn. In the words of James, we “deceive ourselves” by thinking that simply hearing the word does us any good. This week we are going to talk about actually doing what the Scriptures say.
Welcome to the Becoming Better Podcast. On this bonus episode, Josh and Ken sit down with Anthony and Stephanie Naimo. We are excited to share their story with you today. If you would like to check out their blog post you can visit at https://letnothingbewasted.com/
Well, hey, and welcome to another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I am your host, Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad that you are here. Well, on today's episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and discuss trials, temptation, and the power that we have over them in Christ Jesus. We also spent some time answering really great questions this week, so we are so grateful to all of you who sent those questions to us for this episode.
Before we get any deeper into this episode. I do want to share that we have a bonus episode this Thursday, so In just a few days, we will drop that here. It is a raw and honest conversation with some members here at Quadcity who have walked through trials of many kinds and are choosing obedience and perseverance in the midst of it. Like I said, it was a raw and honest conversation that many of you will benefit a lot from, so be sure to look for that episode this Thursday.
And if you are tuning in with us today and haven’t heard the message from Sunday, we encourage you to pause right here and go back and listen to that message, as it will help make this conversation make more sense to you.
Last but not least, if you do have any questions from last week's message, we encourage you to submit those questions to us so we can answer them on the show. Quadcity.church/podcast
We hope you enjoy this episode.

There are three forces that lead us into temptation: The Devil, the world, and our flesh. James clarifies that God cannot and will not tempt us, our temptations come when we "are dragged away by [our] own evil desire and enticed."
Well, hey, and welcome back for another episode of the Becoming Better podcast. I'm your host, Brendan Krismer, and I am so glad you are here. Well, on today's episode, Jason, Josh, and I sit down and discuss all that we know about James, the brother of Jesus and the writer of the book that we will go through over the next 11 weeks. We also talk about how important it is to persevere in our faith and how we have an internal perspective on our suffering. As always, if you have questions or comments from Sunday's message, join us at Quadcity.church/podcast. You can submit your questions to be answered right here on the show. And hey, if you are new to the Becoming Better podcast, welcome. We are so glad that you are here. A little bit about the show, this podcast: these episodes are intended to dig a little deeper into the context and anything that we couldn’t get to from our Sunday's message, as well as answer any questions again. You can submit those at QuadCity.church/podcast but because this podcast is all about Sunday's message if you have not yet listened to the message from this past week go ahead and pause this episode now go back and listen to it, which it can be found on this same quad city podcast feed and then you can continue as it will help this conversation make much more sense to you. Well, again, thanks for joining us today. We hope you enjoy this wide-ranging conversation as we kick off Beyond Belief: The Study through James.
How can we consider it "pure joy" when we face trials? It's not that the trials are joyful, but rather it's what the trials produce that we should take joy in. Trials test our faith and produce perseverance. Therefore we should be joyful in the perseverance that is produced through trials, which strengthens our faith.
Happy New Year, and welcome back to the Becoming Better Podcast. This show is where we break down more of what we covered last Sunday and dig deeper into how we should apply what we learn to our daily walk.
On this episode, Jason, Brendan, and Josh sit down, and they discuss what they enjoyed from last Sunday's message. They also talk more about what you can expect this coming year. If you have any questions from Sunday's message, you can submit them to Quadcity.church/podcast, and we will answer them right here on the show. We are excited about what this year offers, and we hope you join us.
For our annual Family Meeting, we review all that happened at QuadCity during 2023 and discuss upcoming things to look forward to in 2024.
We've all heard of the "New Year New Me" mentality when it comes to New Year's resolutions. This year, instead of starting a diet or workout routine, becoming more productive, or other self focused improvements, maybe we should shift our focus to God and becoming more like Him. If you've already dedicated your life to the Lord, this year could be "New Year, New EVERYONE ELSE" as you focus on sharing the gospel and making more and better disciples of Jesus. Everywhere. Always.
