The Cape of Good Hope Agricultural Society was established in 1831 and this year, celebrates its 190th anniversary. As South Africa’s oldest agricultural society, it is responsible for the first Department of Agriculture in the Cape in 1886, and Agricultural College in 1888. Today, Agri-Expo has taken forward the values of the agricultural society in their role as the interlocker between stakeholders within the industry over the last 25 years. This year, Agri-Expo honoured Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde and Chairperson of the Agricultural Research Council, Joyene Isaacs with the Agri-Expo Honorary Award. It is also set to launch three major projects surrounding the development of agriculture in 2022.
