Our #LeaderofIndustry is Millicent Mphela, a Skills development facilitator for the EIE Group who after discovering her passion for a male-dominated industries like the heavy machinery sector – took it upon herself to drive learning and development by capacitating people (many of them women) from disadvantaged areas through internships, graduate programmes, apprenticeships, CSI projects and social development programmes. She joins us as we reflect on her journey…

A 2019 Climate Transparency report revealed that almost 23 000 people die in South Africa every year as a result of outdoor air pollution: because of strokes, heart disease, lung cancer and chronic respiratory diseases, advising that South Africa will need to scale up climate action to meet the lower-end of its NDC [nationally determined contributions] in 2025 and 2030. We speak to members of the Climate Justice Coalition (CJC) a collective of members who’ve launched the campaign for a Green New Eskom, demanding a just transition to a more socially owned, renewable energy future, providing clean, safe, and affordable energy for all, with no worker and community left behind. We find out about this call to action.

A little later on, our celebrity guest, Gabriel Temudzani joins us. If you’re not certain who he is, he has played the role of Chief Vhafuwi Azwindini since 2000, on the TV soap opera Muvhango on Sabc 2 – a soapie that plays big role in tactfully displaying and celebrating the VhaVenda culture.

Author and publisher, Phehello Mofokeng talks about writing & publishing Sankomota: An Epic in One Album - A Reflective Essay plus his role as a curator at the upcoming Rutanang Kasi Book Festival (#Rutanang2020) – which is an annual township book festival established to celebrate African languages literature written in all languages of the continent. The festival takes place virtually on 25-27 September

- Today is International Day of Sign Languages, which is celebrated annually across the world along with International Week of the Deaf. The choice of 23 September is the same date that the World Federation of the Deaf was established in 1951.
Our guest is Rapper the Lazarusman who talks to us about his bespoke track using South African Sign Language for the hard of hearing and the deaf community to enjoy.
We are also joined by Andiswa Gebashe who is sign language interpreter for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's pandemic briefings — who has become a celebrity during the pandemic for her work.
