As a man, looking at Women’s Month activities and events from a distance – do you understand the plight of women and do you think women are doing well in commemorating the women of 1956 – if not, what more do you think can be done?
Today’s #OpinionPiece states, “Over the years, Women’s Day has somewhat lost its true meaning. Instead of remembering and celebrating the courageous women who fought for freedom, human rights, and justice, 9 August has been largely reduced to a pink commercial circus revolving around pedicure specials and discounted coffee and cake. Fact is, Women’s Day and its original meaning are more relevant now than ever before. Since our first democratic elections 26 years ago, women have not ceased to build our Beloved Country, strong, courageous, fierce, and determined superheroines are making South Africa a better place”
