The Parthenon, dedicated by the Athenians to Athena Parthenos, the patron of their city, is the most magnificent creation of Athenian democracy at the height of its power. It is also the finest monument on the Acropolis in terms of both conception and execution. Built between 447 and 438 BC, as part of the greater Periklean building project.

Easter Island is far away in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean.

The island has over 600 of these famous old statues. They were carved from soft volcanic stone and stand from 10 to 40 feet or 3 to 12 meter high.

The great wall of China was built as a defense against wandering tribes that invaded China from time to time. Parts of the wall date from the fourth century BC.

The first emperor of a united China, Shi Huang Di, connected these parts during his reign in the late third century BC.

The wall is built of earth and stone and it was built entirely by hand.
