This week on the pod, feminist corner is back! But first Cher and Audrey discuss the ethics of how Bridget’s weight is portrayed, Cher breaks down her first impressions of The Holiday, and Audrey celebrates her favorite rom-com premise: bad first impressions. There is also somehow time for a true crime corner. You won’t want to miss out on the holiday fun!

  • Manhattan Beach (Ch. 12-20)

  • Manhattan Beach (Ch. 1-11)

It’s our tenth episode! Cher and Audrey celebrate by inviting their friend Tyler Laminack on the pod (@tylercolelam). Audrey puts Tyler on the spot with some personal questions, allowing Audrey and Cher to school Tyler on their first memories of each other. The trio also discusses Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan. They discuss why protagonists aren’t usually the assertive ones, the war genre, and give their predictions for the rest of the book. Cher’s predictions involve plenty of murder!

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray (Ch. 10-20)

Cher drops the bombshell that she's not a romantic comedy person, and Audrey deals with the fallout. This eventually leads to a passionate discussion about Grey's Anatomy and yet another feminist corner (get used to it). Feminist corner culminates in Cher and Audrey announcing Audrey's 2028 candidacy for president. Oh yeah and they also have a thoughtful conversation about the final half of The Picture of Dorian Gray and Oscar Wilde's trial years.

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray (Ch. 1-9)

For a book with almost no women in it, Cher and Audrey certainly spend a lot of time talking about feminism this week. There are not one but two feminist corners. Cher and Audrey also dive into what they think Oscar Wilde thinks about art and discuss their feelings about Dorian Gray (mostly negative) and Lord Henry (mostly positive).

  • Fates and Furies (Ch. 6-13)

Audrey corrects the rumors she’s been spreading about Snoop Dogg, Cher professes her love for that patient mastermind Chollie, and both discuss their general distaste for Lotto and misogyny. We don’t have to be mommies to be worthy creators, Lotto.
