After hearing the challenging prediction of his passion, death, and resurrection, Jesus' disciples seem to ignore him and turn to inward, to personal reputation and ambition. This seems strange. But we do the same, I think. When hearing a challening teaching of Jesus, through his Church, we often close our ears and listen to our own ambitions. That's unfortunate, because Jesus wants complete joy for us, and his Church guides us down that path, if we let it. Readings: Wisdom 2:12, 17-20; Psalm 54; James 3:16-4:3; Mark 9:30-37.
