I was honored to be asked to contribute to the V&R tenth anniversary celebration by writing about the famed #VOTY Award.  Randy Stern, founder, and publisher of Victory & Reseda has worked hard over the years to make this automotive award something that automotive manufacturers look forward to and that consumers use in their selection of vehicles to purchase.

I have served as a #VOTY Juror for three years and it was a lot of fun to look into the early beginnings and the history of this prestigious award and how Mr. Stern has made it into the program that it is today. #VOTY involves members of the automotive media and relies on consumers to make that final decision of which vehicle wins each year.

Officer Matt joined in as we went on a multi-marque event with the International Motor Press Association. The event was held in the same locale where he as an Eagle Scout would go camping as a young man.  Lots of fun and hijinks happened, and he got behind the wheel of some very cool cars.

It was buy your favorite police officer a coffee day, we did one better by taking Officer Matt down to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord North Carolina, and out on the track with Ford Performance in Ford Shelby Mustang GT500's.  This half-day performance driving experience involved time on the road track, time on the drag-strip, and a walk around the cars, their engines and transmissions, brakes, and Recaro Seats by representatives of each of the companies that supplied parts to build the legendary Shelby COBRA Mustang.  Even time with Aaron Shelby grandson of the legendary Carroll Shelby.

Take a ride with Officer Matt as he took out the Ford Mustang GT 500 on the track.
