The mission of In Lak’ech Dance Academy is to co-create a community of queer and trans dancers to celebrate our resilience, nurture our collective strength and heal from oppression. Through our visibility and artistic expression we are redefining the Latin dance community as a safe and affirming space for all gender identities and sexualities.

“Teresa Ellis” Pilates Barre and Jams

After completing of QWOCMAP, the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project in the Bay Area, Candy fell hard for film, and started making award-winning films about queer, latinx, and butch/trans subjects. Now she’s been awarded the prestigious Princess Grace award for her documentary film Mariposa.
Candy and I discuss imposter syndrome, the barriers women of color face on their creative journeys, finding ways to conquer your fears, and the latest addition to her family.

Biily Curtis: Today on Queergasm, I’ll be talking to the man who invites UC Berkeley and it’s students to embody gender equity, inclusive language and fabulosity, on a grand scale, Gender Equity Center Director, Billy Curtis.
For more than 14 years, Billy has been the reassuring queer and militant voice of Cal’s Gender Equity Center, challenging and loving hundreds of fresh-faced queer and POC students into creative, conscious activism. Billy has been selected as a Community Grand Marshal at San Francisco Pride 2018!
We’ll talk to Billy about the how apps may be hindering a sense of discovery in dating and sex, his fear and fascination with snakes, and the ways in which what he does every day is highly creative. Feel the Queergasm.
