I know this seems like an odd topic but the conversation really made me think. If you've never listened to a Quick Hit conversation, this one is worth making your first.

"Managing up" is thrown around as a way to deal with being overworked, to work around an incompetent boss and even get promoted. But what does it actually mean and how do you do it?
Listen in as James (Jim) Lee, Tim Hawkes, Daniel Parsons and I discuss the idea and provide tips on how to do it.

There is little that is more satisfying than an intellectually stimulating or heartfelt conversation. Making them happen requires knowing what makes them happen (very meta isn't it?). Is there a way to create them on purpose? Or at least appreciate it when you're in one?
Listen in as Steve Thomson, James (Jim) Lee, and Gareth Russell join me in what turned out to be a very satisfying conversation.

We disagreed on this one. Some of us believe that having a clue about what it's like to work in the trenches makes a leader better. Others think that once you've been in the trenches, you can't let go of the day-to-day work enough to be a good leader. This was a really interesting conversation with Gareth Russell, James (Jim) Lee and Steve Thomson.
What emotions are okay in a professional space? What difference does gender make in how those emotions are accepted or not? Listen in as James Blair, Dr Wayne Buckhanan, Lena Sobel and I have a difficult conversation on this touchy subject.
You would think that would be a straightforward answer. But it turns out to be surprisingly difficult both for my clients and for Lena Sobel, James Blair, Dr Wayne Buckhanan and I. It could be that happiness is like flow, you only realize it when you're not in it. Take a listen and let me know what you think.
Can you trust the voice in your head to tell you the truth when it comes to self-doubt? More often than not, the answer is a resounding NO! But how do you catch that and adjust so you don't end up stuck, unable to make progress on your goals? Listen in as Dr Wayne Buckhanan, Rowley Maggs, Steve Thomas and I continue our conversation about how to beat the self-doubt that holds you back.
Being 100% self assured all of the time isn't healthy, but neither is being so full of self-doubt that you can't move forward. Listen in as Steve Thomson, Rowley Maggs, Dr. Wayne Buckhanan and I chat about where the sweet spot is and how to know if you're too far on one side or the other.
We can't second guess everything we know and test it to make sure we aren't falling into a cognitive bias of some sort. We have to use mental shortcuts and ignore some information just to be able to function in an information overloaded world. Simon Coles, Steve Thomson, Karina Hulstrom and I had a short chat about when it's okay to take the "lazy" way out and just go with what you know to be true.
Human brains are lazy. It doesn't want to have to process information or think too hard about anything. We assume we are right and only pay attention to information that agrees with what we already think. Simon Coles, Karina Hulstrom, Steve Thomson and I chatted about how to chat your brain being lazy and what to do about it.
