Quick Rants!

The Ohio State Buckeyes head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State.  In today's quick rant I discuss why I think it is critical that even though Ohio State should be able to run over the Nittany Lion defense, they need focus on getting the passing game, particularly the vertical passing game going.  The Buckeye offense has become mighty one dimensional and if they can't get the passing game going that could be troublesome down the road against elite teams.

LeBron James has endorsed Hillary Clinton for President, and there is nothing wrong with that. I am no Clinton supporter.  My vote is going to Gary Johnson; but I support James' choice to back Clinton.  LeBron's endorsement has triggered an outpouring of anger that athletes should just play sports and stop trying to be agents of social or political change. Nothing is farther from the truth. America is founded on an idea that everyone gets a say. Everyone can use their personal influence to impact the direction the country moves.  James doesn't have to stay silent because he is a basketball player. He can, and should, use his fame to advance the causes and movements he believes in. Today's short quick rant addresses why James is not wrong for mixing sports and politics.

Heads up - explicit language

Josh Gordon has checked into rehab. He is likely no longer a member of the Cleveland Browns.  This is the right decision for both the Browns and Gordon.  This is not about football anymore. This is about Gordon getting the help he needs to be win his battle against substance abuse. Today's Quick Rant discusses substance abuse and how we as a society need to deal with it differently.

Cody Kessler made his rookie debut Sunday in a 30-24 loss on the road to the Dolphins.  I have four observations regarding Sundays game, including thoughts on Cody Kessler and why we should not get carried away.  Kessler looked serviceable for a rookie with major questions surrounding his ability, but a lot of that was due to the effectiveness of the run game and a masterful game plan by Hue Jackson.

The Cleveland Browns will start 3rd string quarterback Cody Kessler tomorrow against the Miami Dolphins.  Obviously this is a terrible scenario. In today's quick rant I will discuss why this is the worst scenario for Kessler and the Browns - and not just from a wins and losses perspective. I also discuss what I expect from Kessler in his first start. (Spoiler - its not good)

Here is your friendly explicit language warning.

In today's Quick Rant I try to answer this question, as well why people hate No Man's Sky.  The short answer to both questions is, nothing, nothing at all. That's how one of the most anticipated video games in recent memory became one of the most hated. Warning, moments of explicit language.
