The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, -Follow me.- Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, -We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth,the son of Joseph.-

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. -John bore witness about him, and cried out, -This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'-- For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses- grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God- the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

In our continuing series -When I am Afraid-, we will be looking at the life of the Apostle Paul. During his second missionary trip, the Lord visited him at night and said, -Don't be afraid.- From Paul's life we may gleam four causes of fear and from the Lord's Words and others in this account, we will see five ways to overcome fear.

This Good Friday we considered 4 perspectives of the Cross- God the Father and the Cross, Christ and the Cross, The believer and the Cross, and the world and the Cross. We will be hearing from four of our elders as each will share a various perspective of the Cross. We pray that during this season of trials and suffering that we might be able to look upon the suffering of our Savior for peace and encouragement. He died that we might live.

In light of what is unfolding in our world and the associated fear with the Coronavirus, Christians need to be reminded it is not a time to be afraid. To those ends, we will begin a new sermon series titled -WHEN I AM AFRAID- looking in God's Word of what it says about being afraid, examples of being afraid, and how God helps His people overcome being afraid.

In light of what is unfolding in our world and the associated fear with the presence and spread of the Coronavirus, Christians need to be reminded of who they are and who their God is. These are not to be times of anxiety and fear among believers, but great opportunities for the Gospel and ministry of encouragement to one another. This Lord's Day, we will seek courage and understanding our proper response to trying times from a Psalm of great courage - Psalm 91.

This Lord's Day evening, we continue in 1 John looking at one of the most important pieces of evidence that we are Christians - walking as Jesus walked. We are identifying seventeen characteristics of how Jesus walked and evaluating our lives after His example. By then actively following Him by our obedience, we gain assurance of salvation - a key theme in this letter from the Apostle John.
