Phynne~Belle is a San Francisco Bay Area poet, writer, and co-director of The Poetry Global Network. She had her poetry included in two poetry anthologies in 2021, Sinew: Ten Years of Poetry in the Brew and The Bronx Memoir Project Anthology Vol. V. This year, she has contributed to PGN’s first anthology, Kaleidoscopoetry, which includes works from poets across the globe. Phynne has one poetry collection titled, Some Days, Here. You can also find her holding her a bimonthly online open mic on 2nd & 4th Thursdays, as well as organize other poetry events and programs through her Phynnecabulary platform that endeavor to make the literary arts (poetry in particular) accessible widely. Paul Rabinowitz is a novelist, poet, photographer, founder of ARTS By The People and an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. His works appear in The Sun Magazine, New World Writing, Burningword, Evening Street Press, The Montreal Review, and elsewhere. Rabinowitz was a featured artist in Nailed Magazine in 2020, Mud Season Review in 2022 and Apricity and Woven Tale Press in 2023. He is the author of The Clay Urn, Confluence and Limited Light, a book of prose and portrait photography, which stems from his Limited Light photo series, nominated for Best of the Net in 2021. Rabinowitz is creator and co-writer with Brittney Bertier of the TV pilot called Bungalow, and author of the book of poems called truth, love and the lines in between and a chapbook of auto-fiction called Grand Street, Revisited (both with Finishing Line Press). His poems and fiction are the inspiration for 8 award-winning experimental films, including Best Experimental Short at Cannes, Venice Shorts Film Festival, RevolutionME, Oregon Short Film Festival, and The Paris Film Festival. This month his photograph appeared on the cover of Press Pause Press Magazine and inside Glint and Burningword Literary Magazine. A few years after we all met during COVID during the emerging open-mic scene on Zoom, Lakan (LKN) presented the idea of us forming a poet’s community. PGN - Poetry Global Network (PGN) was created in 2021 as a non-profit corporation in the UK. We are an international media platform created by poets to serve poetry and its new and expanding audiences using social media and technology platforms. PGN offers weekly installments of open mics, workshops, partnerships with festivals and publishing. PGN publishing released its first book in 2023, Kaleidoscopoetry, an anthology of 16 member poets, and are currently working on 2 collections by different poets.

Welcome to Quintessential Poetry. Today marks the 24th anniversary of September 11th, 2001. Two years ago, on the 22nd anniversary, I hosted a remembrance episode to honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the resilience of a nation that still carries the weight of that day. I have chosen to share that episode with you again—not because the grief is new, but because remembrance has no time limit. Memory is not bound by one year or one moment. The voices and reflections you will hear remain as important now as they were then. So, I invite you to join me in listening once more, holding space for loss, for resilience, and for the healing that poetry can offer. This is our 9/11 remembrance.

In commemoration of this day, we have invited poets, singers, and musicians from far and wide to share their heartfelt reflections through the power of spoken word. September 07, 2023 Quintessential Listening: Poetry Online Radio Features Stephen C. Pollock
Stephen C. Pollock is the author of the poetry collection Exits, published by Windtree Press. The book nods to the literary traditions of years past while simultaneously speaking to the present moment. It responds to contemporary anxieties surrounding death and the universal search for meaning in life’s transience. Influenced by Dr. Seuss, Pollock began writing rhymed poems at age nine. In high school, he maintained a poetry journal as part of his sophomore English curriculum, and at Amherst College, he took four rigorous poetry courses. During his final semester at Amherst, in an act of love masquerading as mania, he stopped attending classes, isolated himself from friends, ate and slept reluctantly, and spent five straight weeks writing a metaphysical poem on the theme of subjective vs. objective reality. His professional career was a play in two acts. Trained as a physician, Pollock was recruited to Duke University as Chief of Neuro-Ophthalmology in 1987. His clinical practice consisted of evaluating and caring for patients with complex ocular manifestations of neurological diseases. He also trained ophthalmology residents and fellows, and he published a number of clinical and research papers in the medical literature. Prior to leaving academic medicine, he achieved a rank of Associate Professor with tenure.
After seventeen years, Pollock left Duke to become chief executive of CEC (cecvision.com), a nationwide company that provides vision benefits to individuals and their family members. He retired after the company was sold in 2019. Pollock has occasionally dabbled in engineering and technology as well. He wrote U.S. Patent 4,477,158, Lens System for Variable Refraction, and he also designed an instrument that’s used to biopsy inaccessible tumors of the orbit and brain. James L. Rencher Jr. AKA Sir Lawrence
Sir Lawrence started writing in the early 2000s. He has also appeared and featured throughout the city of Houston while being a part of “Snow Industries” created by Black Snow the Poet. Then life got in the way, which stalled Sir Lawrence’s pen. In 2017 relocated back to Atlanta where he started back writing inspired after participating in platforms like Blog talk radio. Shortly thereafter he published his first book “When We Meet - Poems of Love “ which is a book of Love Poems.The following year Sir Lawrence published his second book “SIR ” which is a book of cultural awareness, consciousness and some sensuality for balance.
Sir Lawrence has performed live here in Atlanta at the Apache XLR - Whiskey Wine and Words and The Soul Café; also a 3-city tour with the Gray Beard poets starting in Locust Grove, GA. - Memphis, TN. – Greenville, SC. My most recent appearance was at The Coffee Underground in Greenville, SC. Sir Lawrence is also a Culinary Artist shipping his Signature Pound cake coast to coast.

August 22, 2023 Quintessential Listening: Poetry Online Radio Presents Jennifer M. Garnatz
Jennifer M. Garnatz was born in Lucea on the Caribbean Island of Jamaica in 1953. From the age of 4, she was raised in Kingston by her extremely strict single father. Her mother migrated to the UK. Due to his busy work schedule, he immediately placed her in a boarding school, later at diverse private homes. She was also boarded with the nuns at the Convent of Mercy Alpha Academy High School. Seeking independence after graduating, she pursued a secretarial course then worked as a legal assistant.
Creative writing and composing songs have been her passion since early childhood, providing her soul with solace. Excepting her daily communication with God, growing up she had no one to confide in. The first 20 years of her life had its share of traumas, among them, six weeks before her 20th birthday seeing her father’s body lying in a pool of blood with a bullet hole in his head minutes after he was murdered by criminals. Suddenly, she was on her own. Independence came in an undesired manner.
