December 04, 2024Ian MacRae Talks Pirate Radio off The Coast of the UK 12-03-24GUEST INTRO: Ian MacRae launched his 50 year plus radio career at Melbourne’s 3AW in the early 60s where as a record librarian, panel operator and general office boy, his only on-air window of opportunity was the one-hour test programs from 5-6am on Sunday mornings. He says it took the austere station six months to wake up to the fact that he was playing what he says was, “The grungiest rock ‘n’ roll of the time”. MacRae later travelled to the UK becoming one of the pioneer announcers of UK pirate radio station Radio City off the coasts of England for two years and later Radio Caroline. Upon his return to Australia he joined 2SM. At 2SM MacRae became Australia’s first radio announcer to mix music with a committed comedy breakfast radio show. It was comedy that started with a few bogus telephone calls and built to some of the most absurd stunts that delighted Sydney and later Adelaide audiences for a mammoth 18-year reign of breakfast radio mayhem and huge ratings success. He's the author of two non-fiction books, The Beginners Guide To Becoming a Radio Star and the other an eBook The Discovery Files.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/quorum-radio-episodes-wrmi--497924/support....more30minPlay

November 23, 2024Clint Hill Interview 11-22-24Although I'm host of QUORUM RADIO, I've also scheduled high level guests for Patick Bet David's Valuetainment Channel and his PBD Podcast. One of these is with Mr. Clint Hill with whom I've spoken many times and have booked on numerous programs. He is a consummate gentlemen. Clint Hill is the U .S. Secret Service agent who will forever be remembered as the intrepid agent who ran to the assistance of his protectee, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy when shots began to be fired in Dealey Plaza in Dallas. Clint Hill managed to leap aboard the presidential limousine and rode on top of it at high speed to Parkland Hospital in a nightmarish and impossible to forget 4 minute trip. This experience, however was brief in comparison to the four years that Clint Hill spent serving the First Family as a special agent assigned to protect Mrs. Kennedy. During this time he witnessed the beginning of the Kennedy Administration; was present at the birth of John Kennedy Junior; the death of an infant Patrick Kennedy and, shortly after JFK's funeral, an medal award ceremony for Clint's heroic actions the day of the assassination that Jackie Kennedy attended. Clint Hill transitioned from the White House detail to the Kennedy home in Georgetown to watch over a former first lady and her family engulfed in grief. Clint Hill later re-joined the White House again in 1964 and was promoted to Special Agent In Charge of Presidential Protection in 1967. later he was assigned to protect Vice President Agnew and subsequently promoted to Assistant Director of the Secret Service. With Lisa McCubbin, Clint Hill has co-written three books Mrs Kennedy & Me; Five Days in November; Five Presidents: My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/quorum-radio-episodes-wrmi--497924/support....more30minPlay
