Gus Russo is a veteran investigative reporter, author, documentary producer, and professional musician. His first book, Live By the Sword: The Secret War Against Castro and the Death of JFK was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
In 2006 Gus Russo helped produce and documentary for German public television “Rendezvous With Death,” concerning Cuba’s intelligence service & JFK’s killer. Russo’s fifth book (w/ Steve Molton), was Brothers in Arms: The Kennedys, the Castros, and the Politics of Murder was named Winner of the 2008 History Prize by the New York Book Festival. He's helped produce and research a 50th anniversary documentary for NBC on the JFK assassination and was an investigative reporter for PBS’ Frontline Who Was Lee Harvey Oswald for which he interviewed over three hundred primary witnesses, here and abroad. Besides also writing about the Mafia he is a professional musician, composer, band leader and jingle writer. He's also the author of BOOMER DAYS, his 2013 memoir and the book The Outfit: The Role of Chicago’s Underworld in the Shaping of Modern America which was also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
