  • Should Tiktok be banned? Who will benefit?
I discuss major themes with the discussion of whether TikTok should be banned. This extremely complicated issue with many years of American culture to deal with. There’s interweaving interest from many countries, and I think the bigger question is not necessarily TikTok itself, but what are the unintended consequences of banning or not banning Tik Tok for the long run competitiveness
Ultimately, I think that this is such an important issue, that we likely need to have a popular vote or a referendum, because of its long run implications to both culture and competitiveness.

  • Assume that all technology is adopted slowly and work backwards from that.
Assume that all technology is adopted very slowly, and think about ways how you can work within that reality were things will take a lot longer than you thought they will. We will have natural tendencies to believe things will go quickly, when in reality, almost everything that we will actually do in life will take a lot longer than what we thought it will be.
Assume it will take twice as long as he thought it will be, and take twice as many resources to get there. If we make this assumption, we will perform far different actions, and minimize the risk of pursuing those particular actions.
Think about ways that you could minimize the downside of pursuing some thing, rather than maximizing the upside, and focusing on all of the ways that you will win.

  • What if there is a better way in academia
the current academic research game is broken. There’s far too many people that fall through the cracks, and those people that become extraordinary successful often have to do so through various different, competitive and strategic games. Well, that may be the objective, and we all should be playing those games, but there’s a whole group of people that is vastly larger in population size that don’t want to play by those games.
The problem is is that we have two subs systems that don’t work very well work together. We have the academic hiring sub system, or universities, and we also have the publication sub system, or academic journals. these are working independent of each other as they should.
I’m not gonna say that we can change everything in person to New World order. That’s impossible. Nor should we. I think we should have very rigorous academic journals that are hard to get into, and universities should have high standards because they’re making a large investment and some thing that is very expensive, professors, and PhD students.
But what if there were people that just blanketly encouraged others? what if we used available tools, such as social platforms and software, to make our life easier and to fill in the gaps for everybody that chooses not to play the strategic and political games. What if somebody just told you that you can keep going and it just takes incremental steps every day?
I’m not saying that I’m somehow special, and I would encourage everybody to do this, but we need more people just giving encouragement at random and doing things to help out the greater good. We need to start building on digital platforms and getting into the New World. I feel uncomfortable giving encouragement to people around me because I am jealous. However, I don’t feel nearly as uncomfortable, encouraging people that I really don’t know.
That is what the reciprocity project is about. It’s about recognizing the limitations of the academic system, and the limitations that I have, and building a platform to help out a large audience that often gets neglected.
Let’s change the world just a little bit and give some random encouragement today.

  • Getting up early and self-help
Your life does not change when you get up early or stay up late. It will naturally go to where there is a homeostasis in don’t gain extra hours by getting up early, and you don’t gain extra hours from staying up late. You will not actually want to sleep a certain amount because that’s what your body requires.
Any amount of motivation or deadlines simply is robbing yourself in the future of that time towards getting up early. You’re robbing yourself of health and survive.
Get as much sleep as you need and love yourself for doing that.

  • Every venture is difficult, don’t expect anything different
Every venture that you pursue is going to be difficult, and it does not happen overnight. I don’t believe any advertising or anybody that tells you differently. I don’t expect unicorns to emerge, and that you won’t have unbelievable success in a matter of a few years
The journey is long and tedious. It’s filled with self-doubt. Nobody will believe in you. And there’s very few secrets that will lead to vast improvement. The journey is slow and painful. It will take you decades, not years.
But, that’s how you get there one little consistent step at a time. it is a slow march. It’s methodical. And it’s never ending.

  • I Thank My Lucky Stars I Live Today
I am deeply appreciative of the fact that I live today, and not a few generations ago. People don’t realize just how prosperous most of the world actually is, and most of this prosperity came within the last 50 years.
I never knew my great grandparents, but I suspect that they would say “you fool, quit focusing on what you don’t have, and focus on all of that amazing magical things that you do have.”

  • Scientific understanding is imperfect
Our current understanding of many fields is still imperfect, despite hundreds of years of study. Most phenomena remain poorly understood, such as markets and organizations. While our explanations are often quite good, they fail to explain many aspects of these fields. The reason for this is the incentives that drive us to focus on interesting and impactful subjects, which mostly center around large multinational corporations. As a result, we have neglected to explore phenomena like how children barter in a classroom, which may have valuable insights for business schools.
In essence, this implies that we have many centuries, if not millennia, of future discoveries to undertake. However, this prospect is not daunting but rather hopeful, as it gives scientists the opportunity to explore and understand the world better.

  • People are not as nice as you believe
rather than assuming that everybody is nice, or everybody is not so nice, let’s assume that people are very much a mixed bag.
We are a mixture of many different things that allow us to adapt to a broader system.
