  • Leaving Your Legacy: Week One

What type of legacy will you leave? In this two-part weekend service series on marriage and family, discover God’s design to building strong, healthy relationships and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

In this sermon, Pastor Lee lays the framework of a Godly legacy and shows us ways we can break the influence and win the battle.

    Sermon Highlights:

Definition of Legacy = Legacy is an inheritance transmitted or handed down from an ancestor or predecessor from the past

Family is God’s conduit for generational blessing (LEGACY)

Four ways to leave a Godly legacy:

    1. Start with the end in mind

    2. Work harder at being “the one” than finding “the one”

    3. Embrace the fact that marriage and family are the frontlines of spiritual warfare

    4. Make peace with your past

How can we win the battle?

    1. Pray together

    2. Forgive quickly

    3. Resolve conflict daily (Ephesians 4:26-27)

    4. Create environment in home of worship

    5. Read the Bible as a family

    6. Put God first in your finances

    7. Worship God together (church)

How do we break the influence?

    1. Call it what it is (sin/wrong)

    2. Take responsibility and repent of it

    3. Break it off by declaring blessing in it’s place in Jesus’ name

  • Gossip: The Enemy's Greatest Weapon Against The Church

In this special sermon from Toby Cavanaugh, the Radiant School of Ministry Director, we learn about the dangerous power of gossip and discover ways to identify and remove the enemy’s weapon from our lives.

    Sermon Highlights

    1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV)
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

    Romans 1:29-31 (ESV)
“They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient TO parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.”

    Matthew 15:19 (ESV)
“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.”

    Ephesians 4:31 (ESV)
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.”

    1 Corinthians 12:20 (ESV)
“For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.”

    Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV)
“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him:17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

    What is gossip?

Passing on privileged or unconfirmed information, often that would portray someone in a negative light

    The danger things:

    1. Is the person not there?
    2. Are you uncertain it is true?
    3. Is it at all private or personal?
    4. Is it at all negative?

Why is it such a big deal?

    1. Gossip breaks relationships
    2. Gossip is the fuel for conflict
    3. Gossip is addictive yet hurts you – like a drug

Gossip destroys unity. And unity is a necessary ingredient for a move of God

    How do I stop?

    1. Repent
    2. Start using the Ephesians 4:29 filter
What do I do if someone starts gossiping to me?

    Strategy 1: covering
    Strategy 2: refuse to listen
    Strategy 3: quarantine

  • The Question of Jesus Part Two

In this stand-alone sermon from Jon Zondervan, we re-visit the Question of Jesus and learn more about His heart and what He requires of us as followers of Him.

    Matthew 16:13-18 (NKJV)
“13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

How does Jesus describe his heart?

    1. Gentle

    2. Lowly

    Matthew 11:25-30 (NKJV)
“25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””

    What is required of us?

    1. We come to Him

    2. We bring our burdens

    3. We take His yoke

    4. We find rest

FIRST LOVE. FIRST TENTH. FIRST THING. FIRST DAY. FIRST PRIORITY.

IN THE FINAL PART OF OUR FIRST SERIES, PASTOR LEE TEACHES ON HOW THE PRIORITY OF OUR LIVES SHOULD NOT BE GETTING WHAT WE WANT, BUT GIVING GOD WHAT HE WANTS

    SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

    MATTHEW 28:16-20 (ESV)
“NOW THE ELEVEN DISCIPLES WENT TO GALILEE, TO THE MOUNTAIN TO WHICH JESU HAD DIRECTED THEM. AND WHEN THEY SAW HIM, THEY WORSHIPED HIM, BUT SOME DOUBTED. AND JESUS CAME AND SAID TO THEM, “ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME. GO THEREFORE AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. AND BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE END OF THE AGE.”

JESUS’ PRIMARY MISSION WAS TO SEEK AND SAVE THOSE WHO WERE LOST AND BOUND

JESUS’ LAST ASSIGNMENT MUST BE OUR FIRST PRIORITY

THE 4 ASPECTS OF THE GREAT COMMISSION:

    1. PREACH THE GOSPEL
    2. DEMONSTRATE THE POWER OF THE KINGDOM
    3. BAPTIZE NEW BELIEVERS
    4. DISCIPLE THEM TO OBEY JESUS’ COMMANDS

THE PRIORITY OF OUR LIVES SHOULD NOT BE GETTING WHAT WE WANT, BUT GIVING GOD WHAT HE WANTS MOST

    SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

    MALACHI 3:6-10 (NKJV)
    “6 “FOR I AM THE LORD, I DO NOT CHANGE;
THEREFORE YOU ARE NOT CONSUMED, O SONS OF JACOB.
7 YET FROM THE DAYS OF YOUR FATHERS
YOU HAVE GONE AWAY FROM MY ORDINANCES
    AND HAVE NOT KEPT THEM.
RETURN TO ME, AND I WILL RETURN TO YOU,”
    SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS.
    “BUT YOU SAID,
‘IN WHAT WAY SHALL WE RETURN?’
8 “WILL A MAN ROB GOD?
    YET YOU HAVE ROBBED ME!
    BUT YOU SAY,
‘IN WHAT WAY HAVE WE ROBBED YOU?’
    IN TITHES AND OFFERINGS.
9 YOU ARE CURSED WITH A CURSE,
    FOR YOU HAVE ROBBED ME,
    EVEN THIS WHOLE NATION.
10 BRING ALL THE TITHES INTO THE STOREHOUSE,
THAT THERE MAY BE FOOD IN MY HOUSE,
AND TRY ME NOW IN THIS,”
    SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS,
“IF I WILL NOT OPEN FOR YOU THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN
AND POUR OUT FOR YOU SUCH BLESSING
THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ROOM ENOUGH TO RECEIVE IT.”

THE LOVE OF MONEY IS A SPIRITUAL DISEASE

THE LONGER YOU HOLD ONTO THAT LOVE, IT WILL CORRUPT AND DESTROY YOUR HEARTS

TITHING IS THE ANTIDOTE TO FALLING PREY TO THE LOVE OF MONEY

EVERY CHRISTIAN INSTINCTIVELY KNOWS THAT “GIVING” AND “HONORING GOD IN THE AREA OF OUR FINANCES” IS A PART OF BEING A DISCIPLE OF JESUS

MOST DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO START, WHAT TO GIVE, OR HOW TO BREAK OUT OF THE FEAR, CONTROL OR GRIP OF THE LOVE OF MONEY

DOES GOD GIVE US INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT HOW TO BRING OUR FINANCES UNDER HIS LORDSHIP AND OPEN THE DOORS OF SUPERNATURAL BLESSING OVER OUR LIVES?

IT BEGINS WITH HONORING GOD WITH OUR FIRST TENTH = THE TITHE

THE NUMBER 10 IS A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER IN SCRIPTURE = TESTING

THE PRINCIPLE OF THE TITHE IS THE “TEST OF OUR HEARTS”

THE PRINCIPAL TEST OF THE TITHE SPANS THE ENTIRETY OF THE BIBLE

YOU DON’T GIVE YOUR TITHE, YOU RETURN HIS TITHE

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FIRST TENTH (TITHE)?

    1. KEEPS OUR HEARTS CLEAN FROM THE LOVE OF MONEY
    2. IT IS GOD’S ECONOMIC PLAN TO FINANCE HIS STOREHOUSE, THE CHURCH

    REASONS WHY CHRISTIANS DON’T TITHE:

    1. IGNORANCE
    2. “I DON’T BELIEVE IT IS FOR US IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ERA”
    3. “I CAN’T AFFORD TO TITHE”
    4. “I DON’T WANT TO TITHE”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I CHOOSE TO GIVE GOD MY FIRST TENTH?

    1. IT BREAKS THE BACK OF LIVING UNDER A CURSED ECONOMY
    2. IT WILL BUILD A HEDGE AROUND YOUR HOUSEHOLD AND FINANCES
    3. RELEASES FAVOR UPON YOU IN THE WORKPLACE (IN THE FIELD)
    4. BECOMES A TESTIMONY OF THE PROVISION AND GOODNESS OF GOD (THE WORLD IS WATCHING)

HOW DO I TAP INTO THE POWER OF THE FIRST TENTH?

    1. BEGIN NOW (MAKE A DECISION)
    2. MAKE IT THE FIRST TENTH
    3. PUT YOUR FAITH BEHIND IT IN PRAYER
    4. ASK GOD TO HONOR HIS WORD
    5. DON’T GROW WEARY IN DOING RIGHT
