Government and community leaders in Vuwani in Limpopo have reached an agreement that will see schooling resume from next month. There's been no schooling for about three months in the area as residents protested against a decision to incorporate their area into a new municipality. The South African Union of Students says it is ready to go on a year-long holiday should government fail to introduce free education from next year. In January, a commission of inquiry into the feasibility free higher education was appointed and given eight months to conduct its investigations. The student body says it is not willing to engage in any talks with the commission if it does not promise free education. Several roads have been closed in Maclear, Barkley East, Elliot and Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape due to heavy snow falls overnight. More than 30 cm of snow has fallen in low lying areas, covering most of the roads in various farming towns. Fundiswa Mhlekude reports....

Judgement in the case of four axed SABC journalists will be handed down at the Labour Court in Johannesburg this morning. The urgent application by Trade Union Solidarity on behalf of the journalists was heard on Friday at the Labour Court in Johannesburg. The four are challenging their dismissal by the public broadcaster. They're part of a group of eight journalists who were sacked by the SABC on various grounds after they challenged its editorial policy. Sashin Naidoo reports
