Government employees and members of the public will now have the opportunity to access affordable housing finance following a R10.5 billion investment in SA Home Loans (SAHL). Government Employees Pension Fund says the initiative is part of plans to provide cheaper mortgages and build more houses. The Home Loans be available to its 1.2 million active members who qualify for credit and will also yield social returns with loans extended at competitive rates. Armscor, has assembled a team of "cyber experts" to analyse the extent of a breach of its computer systems. This comes after sensitive tender information was stolen from its computers. Armsco's computers system was hacked by hacktivist group, Anonymous. It is understood that 63 megabytes of secret information was leaked. Some of the 62 candidates nominated for the position of public protector, have charges ranging from rape to having links to the Gupta family. This follows a vetting exercise that was conducted by Corruption Watch and the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit (DGRU), to help establish the suitability of these nominees.
