Axed SABC journalists are expected to report back to work this morning (thursday 28 July). This comes after the SABC announced that it will reinstate the seven dismissed news employees. This has been widely welcomed by organisations which have been opposed to the journalists dismissal and the SABC's decision not to show visuals of protests. Tshepo Phagane reports.

Government has offered to help residents of Tembisa on Gauteng's East Rand whose houses were damaged on Tuesday's tornado. About 400 people have been displaced and a number of properties damaged, including the Phumlani shopping mall, a filling station and section of the Tembisa hospital. Several people were treated for injuries. Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Ekurhuleni mayor Mondli Gungubele visited the area to assess the damage. Pearl Magubane reports.....

EFF leader Julius Malema has paid a visit to the tornado victims at Tembisa on the East Rand. Malema says he abandoned the community meeting that was scheduled there to avoid being labelled as opportunistic. However, he pledged help for those who lost their homes. An estimated 18 people have been killed or had attempts made on their lives in suspected political killings since the beginning of this year. This is according to Police Minister Nathi Nhleko. He briefed journalists in Parliament on the progress of a task team established to look into suspected political murders, particularly in KZN. In KwaZulu-Natal alone, the task team is investigating 25 cases of violence linked to suspected political killings. The task team consists of among others, the police's crime intelligence unit and the Hawks. Zalene Merrington reports...

Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services Siyabonga Cwele plans to take legal action against the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) following a decion by the regulator to auction a wireless broadband spectrum. The Democratic Alliance has written to Minister Cwele to urge him to halt his office's legal action saying the matter has been subjected to politically inspired delays. The auction for the licences is expected to occur in January next year. IEC in the North West, is on high-alert, following the torching of one of its voting stations in Wonderkop in Marikana. The Commission says, it is monitoring all areas, considered to be political hot-spots ahead of next weeks' polls. Make-shifts voting stations, in a form of tents and other alternatives, will be sent to those areas. Protesting residents in Wonderkop, torched a local hall, earmarked to be used as a voting station - saying the local mining giants, Lonmin is deliberately overlooking them, in its employment of workers. A bus belonging to the company was also set alight. Lucas Mothibedi reports......

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says there would be a logistical nightmare if the local government election system were changed to allow voters to cast their ballots anywhere in the country if they are outside their voting districts on election day. This comes as media workers, police and health workers are required to work on election day, even if it is declared a public holiday. The IEC says there are close to five-thousand different ballot papers for the municipal elections. Mercedes Besent reports ..........

She says South Africans do not necessarily protest more than they did in the past‚ but they are protesting more violently. The wife of late race car, Gugu Zulu - Letshego has thanked South Africa for the support and condolence messages. She unexpectedly took to the podium to express her gratitude yesterday (Tuesday 26 July) during Zulu's memorial service at the Kyalami Race Track in Midrand. The "Fastest Brother in Africa" died last week while attepting to summit Mount Kilimanjaro as part of the Trek4Mandela initiative. Noma Bolani attended the memorial service and filed this report...
