Stats SA has released the results of the Community Survey 2016. The study reflects the country's performance on education, labour markets, service delivery, poverty and access to services. Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe, received the results on behalf of the President in Pretoria. Figures from the survey indicate that the population increased by over three million people since 2011. The survey was conducted between March and April 2016 and collected from 1.3 million households across all South African communities. Stats Sa conducts a census every ten years and has an intercensal that alternates with the national census. Amina Accram reports

Ex-London mayor Boris Johnson has ruled himself out of the race to be the next Conservative leader and prime minister. Johnson called a press conference yesterday where many thought he would be making his pitch to lead the Tories. In his speech, Johnson said he did not believe he could provide the leadership or unity needed. It comes after Justice Secretary and fellow Brexit campaigner Michael Gove's surprise announcement that he would run for leader. We spoke to our correspondent in London Cathrine Drew

The spectacular Durban July is just hours away and the city of Durban says it is ready to host one of the country's biggest horse-racing extravaganzas. Durban Tourism believes more than 55-thousand people will descend on the City for the star-studded event this weekend. It says it expects to generate more than 300-million rand in revenue. With fashion being synonymous with the July, designers and models will also be at the racecourse, showing off beautiful tailor-made garments. This year's theme is "Leader of the pack". At least two buses have been set alight during protest action on the N2 near the Cape Town International Airport, leading to the closure of sections of the highway. It is reported that protesters aslo stoned several vehicles. By late last night it was still unclear who the protestors were. ANC's Tshwane mayoral candidate, Thoko Didiza arrived to a tumultuous welcome in Stinkwater near Hammanskraal. Didiza accompanied by the incumbent mayor, Kgosientso Ramokgopa visited the family of Simon Modige who was gunned down outside the ANC's Branch Executive Commitee meeting at the Tshwane Events Centre two weeks ago. A suspect has since been arrested and is expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate's court today. Freddy Sepeng reports...

South Africa has recorded the highest number of political parties to contest local government elections. This was revealed by the independent electoral commission. Two hundred political parties and just over sixty one thousand candidates will be contesting the upcoming August third poll following the certification on Monday(27 June).
